Overall a 7/10 for me.

Max was pretty tame as a character I felt.

Agree that it was all about Furiosa.

I still think the first was by far the best.

Fury Road was better than Thunderdome for sure.

The special effects were great.  The movie was decent.  I watched it in 3D (which was just OK - believe it was not natively shot in 3D).  I'll rewatch it on another system (which is more in an enclosed room) to get a better idea of the sound over the next couple of weeks.

Did you know that the actor who played Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) also played Toe Cutter in the original?  Kinda cool.

My $0.02 - I loved it.  Will buy the disc and watch again and again for the thrills.  Who cares about the dialog and character development when you're being chased by a freak chained to a mobile rack of speakers jamming on an electric guitar / flame thrower

It's not as good as Road Warrior/MM2 IMO. The movie tries to have it both ways with Theron being Max-type and Hardy sort of but not really taking on the role. There's a reason Mel was the biggest star in the world for a while. That said I think it's an amazing achievement for an original, non-franchise (sort of) film directed by a man in his 70s with more creativity than any action director half his age.

It's far far better than it has any right to be.

I don't think it would hold up as well on a TV. This was made for the big screen.

For instance the flaming guitar guy's rig was in fact *fully functional*. All the speakers, guitars and amps worked, the flamethrower was real and the Doof Warrior (his name) is a real musician.

So what.  Real flames, real musician... he might of even been playing on the hood of a real truck going down the road.  It was still dumb. 
Talk about a movie with not much to it. 
Then I went back and watched the original Mad Max with Mel G looking like he was 17.  Damn what a stupid waste of time, but at least it made Fury Road look like high literature. 
Wushuliu, I think we like different stuff when it comes to movies.  I'm digging out my copy of "A Man for All Seasons" before my brain rots any further.

I have to throw my two cents here.  Flat out I though this was genius.   Too bad it will never get the accadoles its deserves like best picture.  Guess mr Miller will have to put Meryl Streep at the wheel in the next one if he wants an Oscar

It is interesting how all of us view art differently.  I picked up copies of the Mad Max movies based on the reviews here, and over the years the AC members, including Wushuliu, have introduced me to some excellent films.  And I hope to continue finding these jewels as there have been dozens of movies that I would have missed. 
And I would really like to see what complexity Meryl could bring to the role of an older and much more dangerous Furiosa. Now THAT would make for an interesting movie!

I thought it was good-not great. Lots of action but very stylized. Not as gritty as  I would have liked the machines to appear. The guitar vehicle was a excellent example of this.

When MM/FR in Blu-Ray makes it from 7.99 bin to the $5.00 bin at Wal-Mart I may buy it.  Watched in hi-def movie theater and left about 2/3 of the way through; very loud and it struck me as one protracted car chase.  Brave to film dangerous stunts, like watching Steve Irwin.

I've watched thirty seven films so far in 2015.  This one was actually my least favorite of all of them.  Many of them I would watch a second time ..... but not this one.  But I like movies with good characters and a good plot or story, so it's not too surprising I was disappointed with this one.
