You are correct. You just can't do better from a design standpoint or cost. Excellent efficiency, and very unique horn loading with transmission line. These are some of the truly engineered speakers today vs. ones that just throw drivers in a box with a port to attempt low bass.
Oh, I know. I have listened to many of the flavor-of-the-month high-end speakers and always come back to my Hornings. I doubt I would part with mine....except for another pair of Hornings. Those that have heard them, know. People often assume, at 96-ish dB and benign impedance, that these speakers will only work with flea-powered amps. Little known is how well these work with just about any amp, even high-powered SS. They will put out exactly what you put into them, no more no less.....and musically, too.
Last year, I went into the High Water Sound room at AXPONA three times, each time to re-calibrate my ears with soothing, pure music after the brittle cacophony that abounded in most (but not all) the other rooms. Whoever gets this pair will be one happy camper indeed.
