After a long break in period, including cable and tube changes, the VPI Classic with Audio Technica AT150MLX MM is an excellent combination.

Leben RS-30EQ
The cart tracks very well on the unipivot arm. The high end was like glass for the first 50-60 hours. Really mellowed out after a while.

UPDATE.
This is a great cart for the stock VPI Classic: it really sounds great fully broke in now. And very affordable.
Requires a careful set up (but really what doesn't) good thing there is a step by step guid...

I have all tube amplification and custom Belle Klipsch. But at this price it's worth a go with your Classic.
