Dodd remote control ? (erratic/fixed)
« on: 24 Nov 2014, 03:35 am »
I own a Dodd Audio Buffer,  with remote volume control. Pics below.

The remote volume has recently been erratic,  only when using it for lowering the volume. Volume up, works fine from the remote, but the down button sticks. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get another circuit brd (P71192) for the handheld remote ?

Thanks, any help would be appreciated....!

(The unit has no other issues, but thought I would get this fixed before I offered it up for sale.)

G Georgopoulos,

All I could find is black switches,  I ordered those. No red available.

What else can I do  :dunno:

When you find a replacement, please let us know where you got it.  Gary's already replaced one for me a couple of years back, and the other one is now giving problems.

if they are similar but black, replace both switches with black, cant you get a new switch from dodd audio?
if the red plastic button from the bad red switch can be cut and then be super glued on the black switch that would do better take it to a service person to do it for you,if you feel like it...

good luck... :thumb:

G,

I'll do it myself, I think Gary is out of touch. It will just have black buttons. I'll replace both with black. That will look best.

I just can't sell it with one button working intermittently. So both will be black. And both will be new. They cost a whole $3.50.. No big deal..

The S1124 version might be a possibility.  It is 8mm instead of 7mm high.  Might help with button clearance through the handle.

They look like a good option.  Anyone need some?  The minimum $20 order would be 40 switches, so I'd have a few left over  :?

S,

I got a variety pack of black switches coming. I'll have switches coming out my ears...

If your switches don't come in or you need a set, give me a shout..

Scott,
The only thing not shown on the data sheet is the button diameter.

Measuring the height of the existing button is also needed to make sure if it is 7mm or 8mm or other.

If they are correct, I am in for 4 switches.

If you already have some ordered, I'll wait on my order.  If they don't fit, I'll order the ones that HAL found and send them out to anyone who needs them.

hi bladesmith, thanks but i dont need them,i'm just helping out,
things get very complicated if the manufacturer gets out of business,
a simple switch can cost you alot of $$ to replace,
good luck in finding the right one...

Gregfisk,

No I didn't. I ran out of contact cleaner a year ago and didn't even think of that.  :duh:

But, I'll try it before changing out the switches, it might save me some time. thanks..

Which switch height worked out the best?
