Hi Jochr,
Thank you for your post, and thanks also to Rom, Jens and Werticus for their excellent advice. Thanks again, Jens, for your kind offer to invite Jochr for a good listening session.
The AKSA is not supplied with transformers, as they are too heavy to ship inexpensively. You buy them locally, suitable for your local power grid. You would buy 240Vac primary toroids anyway; this is never a problem.
The Nirvana upgrades consist of operating point changes, dimensional changes, and ultra-high quality audio components, such as Black Gate capacitors. The upgrades were developed after the stock kit was released in response to requests from customers, who noted how good the amplifier was, saw the absence of audio jewellry in the product and felt more sonic quality might be possible. I was dragged screaming into this exercise, because I felt highly priced audiophile components were much too expensive, but I plodded on and discovered to my horror that improvements were indeed possible. I am now fully committed to Black Gates, and only yesterday cleared another large shipment through Customs. They do make a difference, a huge difference, though they do take some time to bed in.
I hope this answers your questions,
Cheers,
Hugh
