This album have nothing to do w/the historic PF fans love, its one more effort from the new floyd, a kind of Genesis(pop) and Tangerine Dream from Jerome era(teen prog rock); :- ((

That is what I am afraid of. Let's just hope it will be a nice album.

As it's mostly instrumental, I'm sure that it won't be terrible.

If On an Island has shown us anything, it's that Gilmour knows how to do moody, soulful music still. Revisiting the material from that 90s period and retouching it with his current style might actually be a good thing.

Do you know the one that last a little longer?
It will never going to be like the old ones for sure but one thing I do not understand is, this is more like a David Gilmore solo but why they call it new Pink Floyd?

After twenty years who cares what the band consist of.  I'm a fan of PF for over thirty years.  This CD will be in my collection.  A quote from Maxwell Smart: "And loving it."

Yeah, some would say that's better.  :)
I don't believe I've heard anything from Roger Waters I really enjoyed since he split.  I've always much preferred David Gilmour's contributions to PF, but it's all so subjective and personal preference it doesn't really matter.

Dave.

It was a different band without Syd.

As for Waters, he hasn't done or achieved much since Floyd; so whatever he might have contributed wouldn't have made much difference.

Purely a matter of personal taste, as noted, but I'm with FullRangeMan on this. If involved, Roger would certainly have contributed lyrically, which I think was PF's great failing without him. I consider myself a big Gilmour fan (of his guitar work anyway), but the PF albums without Roger were rather monotonous and predictable...pretentious (and occasionally preachy) lyrical musings followed by a soaring guitar solo. Moody, yes, but not much else.

Quite obvious--to this fan anyway--that David needs Roger, and Roger needs David.

As much as David and Roger need each other.  They've been divorced (musically speaking) for a long time and both have moved on.  As sad as that is for us Pink Floyd fans.

I found Roger's influence in The Wall and the Final Cut to be overbearing and frankly, I never listen to either of those albums.

Meddle through Animals along with Momentary Lapse of Reason and the Division Bell are what I like.  There are some duds on MLOR but overall, I really enjoy the Division Bell.

I also have Ummagumma, Saucerful of Secrets and Atom Heart Mother as well.

Either way this will be a huge release. PF was only the largest selling band in history and after 20 years ...

That small clip sounds like PF still struggling to sound like PF with Roger Waters.

Well, I got it 2 hours ago. I love the album and mostly instrumentals which I love. The Gilmour's guitar sounds great.
Roger Waters gone, Syd Barrett and Richard Wright RIP. It is a pleasure album to have and enjoy. :thumb:

I've listened to the CD a couple of times now. I was not a PF fan during their heyday with Waters, but came to like them much later. This CD is one last instrumental treat for fans.

Yeah, I don't see the point in being judgemental of a bunch of guys in their late 60s who are putting out an album in tribute to a departed member. This album is for themselves and for the fans.
