I am using five DIY 100W monoblock SS amps. I used very high quality parts in constructing these amps and they sound great.

Monoblock are great if not awesome!  Where you able to audition any 5ch amp?

No, did not get to a point of auditioning any amp. I did a lot of reading here & also the 5 channel amp shootout over @ AVS Forum.

Several months ago, I had Wayne @ Bolder mod a Panny XR-70 for my 2.1 second audio system. After hearing the wonderful results, I am pretty much sold that when I change the amplification of my HT 5.1 system, I will go with digital amplification (5 channel single or monoblocks).

I have a great sounding system now and am in no rush to change, if you know what I mean. I will wait for the right digital amp at the right price to come around.

There are a lot of interesting things in the digital realm going on though.
