SOLD: Pass Labs XA30.5
« on: 15 Aug 2014, 02:52 am »
$2750 OBO. Second owner, still has warranty through October. But Pass always takes care of customers, so no worries.

Truly awesome, classic amp, only selling to downgrade/simplify to the INT-30A in preparation for a move. This amp and DeVore Nines are a match made in heaven.

One nick on top of faceplate (see photo), otherwise it would be an 8/10. Otherwise cosmetics are excellent.

Shipping is buyer's responsibility. Prefer Paypal Gift, Amazon Payments, MO, or personal check. Paypal add 3%, or 4% if international if not using Gift.

I understand that the unit is under Pass warranty until October.  So how old is this unit?  How long have you owned it?  Thanks.

Hi there,
It's almost 3 years old, and I've had it since October 2013. So I've enjoyed it for 1/3 of its life so far.

If anyone has specific questions, contact Kent English at Pass - super nice guy. kente@passlabs.com. Ask about S/N 25154, manufacture date, and whether there is any repair history. I do this for all used Pass Labs gear - they keep very good track of their units.

Thanks,
Wilson

:o That has to be about an all time low price with shipping included. I'd take it if I didn't have one already. Awesome amp, and more versatile than specs would lead one to believe.

If I had less efficient speakers, I could turn this baby and my INT-30A into monoblocks...

C'mon, someone HAS to want a good deal out there, right?

To clarify: Paypal is at buyer's expense, but I'll cover shipping to CONUS.

I have 100% positive feedback at Audiogon, Audio Asylum, and USAM/CAM for user "watercourse".

How hot does this amp get ?

I found it, this amp can get up to 55 degrees C which is 131 degrees fahrenheit , thats a little too hot for my rack area.

It's pretty enough to place in the open, or up top.

If out in the open, this amp runs warm, but definitely not hot. It isn't as much of a "space heater" as some other class A amps and won't really contribute any more to warming up the room than probably a second human body in the room would. I think its rather large chassis and heat sinks do a good job of heat dissipation. My First Watt J2 seems to run quite a bit warmer than the 30.5, from what I can tell, and it is out in the open also. Those heat readings are likely surface heat, not readings of the heated air (radiated heat) around the amp.

A cigarette burns at about 580 degrees C (1112 degrees F), MUCH hotter than any amp, but it is too small to heat a room. Context is everything. :thumb:
