I'm probably not in the market for a BOT, but I'll have to agree with Rich. I'm not a fan of the 1/2 width components. I'd rather have full width and shorter.

Hi Guys

Its actually 1/3 sized in width same size as BUC-1 - --  we plan on introducing more 1/3 size products in the future.

Heres what I am thinking:

You could stack them or position them side by side.

I bet one of those mini components is a DSD-only DAC.

Has Bryston considered doing an integrated system?

Are these the same height as the BDP and BDA, James?

We also  plan launching a power supply and 3.5" hard drive enclosure, so you could have the power supply and two Bryston brandon hard drive enclosures (containing hard drives) on a single row.  The one third wide units are shorter then say a BDA or BDP, by a third if I'm not mistaken.

Cheers

hmmm, hard drive enclosures, that interesting and unexpected. What prompted you to do such a product? The post seems to indicate they come with a drive, what type of drives and sizes will be available? Also what manufacturer did you go with?

Hi

Just a cosmetic case for you to install your own drive - last thing I want to do is get into the drive business. :duh:

Chris mentioned to me that we might offer some Industrial Drives as they appear to not have 'issues'

HI James,

I hope you're not forgetting the MPS 2? We've only been able to use 2 of the 4 power outlets on it (bd26 and bp1.5 phono, 2 of those new units would fit nicely?

Cheers,
Marius

The hard drive enclosure product shares the same chassis and circuit board as the BOT, all we had to do was add a 12V line to power 3.5" hard drive.  Drive wise, nothing has been set in "concrete" as of yet.  We may offer an empty enclosure and you simply install your own drive, if we do offer a drive pre-installed it will likely be a enterprise drive like the WD enterprise series for there five year warranty.  Enterprise drives are bit pricier, but few hard drives still offer a five year warranty.

Chris

The MPS-2 was designed to power analog products, the BPS (Bryston Power Supply) is being designed to power digital products with the future intension of a entry level preamp and/or dac that may or may not eventually exist.  Side note on the BPS, we are considering including a usb 2.0 type A port with a 5V linear regulated 1AMP rating to power DIY digital audio projects using sbc's like the raspberry pi.

Cheers,
Chris

Thanks James I can definitely understand wanting to avoid including drives as that tech tends to evolve fairly fast. I'm looking into the Synology NAS units and while looking up recommended hard drives to install in it I'm now seeing for example that Western Digital Red drives are up to 6 TB. I bought a WD MyBook just 2 years ago and that was 3 TB and may have been the largest at that time in the series.

It would be cool though to have an official Bryston case though.

Thanks

A 5 year warranty is pretty darn good and the WD stuff seems to get many good reviews so it makes sense you are looking in that direction.

Too large a chassis and a lot of wasted material.

Chris, no problem putting an SSD in the drive enclosure?

Thankee,
