Bryston Warranty question
« on: 11 Jul 2014, 06:40 am »
Hallo Bryston!

I bought (secondhand) 2 Bryston amps (4B sst2 & 6B sst2)  and a Bryston SP3 to drive my home theatre/music setup.

Not long after I made this purchase,  I had to head off to Australia.

Believing I was doing the right thing,   I took them in to the local certified Bryston workshop to get converted.

The conversion was fine; when I finally got set up in the new digs they were just as wonderful as ever.

Unfortunately,  the 4B stopped powering up one day after about 6 weeks.   I took it back to the workshop thinking it was under warranty, but they are saying that I need a part that costs $600 to repair my unit,  and that it's not under warranty because it's not in the US anymore.

Is there anything I can do to sort this out,  or is my warranty just voided until I get back to North America?

Cheers!

Hi

Yes the policy is the product has to be serviced in the country it was purchased from.

What part are you taking about that costs $600?  It may be a labour costs as well?

I'll get more details with regards to the part.   I am curious to know.  I originally thought it was related to the conversion which I would expect the workshop to take responsibility for.....

I've read the fine print in the warranty where it says " The warranty will only be honoured in the country of the original purchase unless otherwise pre-authorized by Bryston."

I was originally not worried because you guys are rightfully famous for having the best warranty going around.   Obviously it's too late now,  but...  What could I have done to get 'pre-authorized'?

Cheers!

Hi Nemir

Where and when was it purchased please. If second hand do you have copies of the original purchase.  Send me the Serial numbers as well please and I can trace the history for you.

Also when you say workshop in Australia - was that our distributor or a shop authorized by them?
