I don't want to jinx myself, but I've had great luck with used records lately. They are in pretty good shape and play as quietly as new. The Buddy Rich was the typical jumbled mess, but the vinyl was quiet. And these are 5-6 dollar records. Great times to be spinning vinyl.
Do you suppose there will soon be a glut of CD on the market when everyone ditches their collections and only has hard drives and backups in the cloud. Will we see huge collections of used cd for a buck or less? Will we still have any way to spin them? Maybe I should buy a couple of those Tascam cd players that John Marks wrote about in this months Stereophile????
I've been having bang-up results at Vintage lately too, Mark. St. Louis classics, barely or never played, $5 to $10 max? Sounds like my name is written all over that.
As for the CD question, the answer is yes. TONS of players made. Getcha a cheap Sony and rock. There's a resurgence in cassette playback currently too. Why? Maybe cheepnis, availability, dunno fershure.
Did you know that VV made USA Today's Top Ten US Vinyl Record Stores list just recently? Aren't we lucky?
Hope you're enjoying retirement, Director!
