Hi Jon,
I've read many of your reviews over the years and you have a lot of experience in home with considerable stuff. I've owned several pairs of VMPS ribbon speakers as I was a demonstrator in the Chicago area for several years--626R, RM30, 2 different pairs of RM40s. I love the sound and wish I still had them. How would you compare the sound of the RM30s you had with the Selah Audio Tempestas? Since you've owned both and were very impressed, I'd love to know your impressions of each comparatively. The 30s I had were upgraded with auricaps, silver wiring, blackhole 5, 40 ou. magnet megawoofers, and the 10" side passive radiators. As I'm now 61, I sold my awesome pair of RM40 BCSE Bound For Sound review pair to a VMPS lover because the size (260 lbs.) is just too much to think of lugging around in the future and I thought I could downsize and still get as good of sound. I apparently love the sound VMPS has especially the mids and highs. I believe its the ribbons that I'm missing and the airiness, call it ethereal sound they produce. I now have Green Mountain Audio Continuum 3/HX speakers that Roy Johnson at GMA just did all the upgrades on. I was going by the fantastic reviews when I bought them and Roy's excitement at the upgrades. They have a cone midrange (aerogel) very good, but the dome tweeter just doesn't quite cut it after living with VMPS speakers for the past 5 years. Any light you can shed on this would be very appreciated.
Thanks, Bob
