Oh, and after a little more listening, the interim verdict is Yes, the new Tift is recorded like crap.   We only listenend to it on the Omegas, so it is much better than what we heard, but still a mediocre effort at best.  Once you get past that the music/performance is very good and enjoyable, but I would have expected much better from Lost Highway.  Her first one was MUCH better recorded.

I will likely host a Christmas party where there's minimal gear swaps and everyone has to bring audiophile-level Christmas music.
Carl,
I'll be able to help you out here, tho I'm not telling you what I'm bringing ... it WILL be interesting tho

I tried to invite some people from another audio club but they're having their own little party on the 24th.  -I can't remember the name... it has Carolina in it, though.  (Carolina Audio Society?)   Anyway, I contacted Drew Baird about it... and he's the one hosting to show off some new speakers he's been working on for a very long time.

I told him I'd ask if we were firm on the date... but I was pretty sure we were/are.  So, just checking.

Thanks,
Carl

It might be the Piedmont Audio Society. It's a good group of guys, all audioholics like us  :D

Think you're right Rick ... CAS has the swap meet on the 10th, and Joseph Grado speaking on the 31st.

I just reconfirmed with the rep this morning that the 24th was the date... if we need to change it, let me know... of those people attending the alternate meet, would a lot of them come to a second meet the next weekend???  I would guess that would be the true test of whether it should be moved or not....

Piedmont sounds right... Aren't you a member, Rick?  Were you at Drew's house about a year or so ago?

Anyway, I would think the 23rd vs. 24th might be easier and not an entirely different weekend.  But, it's up to Tim and Shane and not me.  I was just trying to see if other groups wanted to attend. (as was requested ;) )

I'm good for either the 23rd or 24th.  I picked Sunday because Steve has a hard time with Saturdays.  I don't know if I'll be around on the 31st ... I think I may well head down to Charlotte to hear Joe Grado speak at hte combined Carolina/South Carolina Audio Societies meet.  The 30th is also a possibility, but still a problem for Steve.  If you want to canvass some more I can still be flexible, we just need to let Shane know as soon as possible I presume.

Abby's are now literally in the house!

I am now on track for the 24th. The 23rd is parents day at Campbell U., and the Ms. and I will be attending that to support the boy.

Interesting website Inscrut. It is almost finished, I suspect.

I have been working on the "little woman" ( she lies about being 5 feet tall) on the system move. It's a slow process. I think I may host a meeting in November. That may help loosen her up. Lots of loud talking about how small my room is will be in order. If she asks, Carlman's room is twice as big.

I can bring my CD player with associated  cables to Tim's gathering. What about the Scott Nixon Tube DAC+?

At 5 pages and with meandering conversations, I decided to start a new thread about this meeting:

I'm pretty sure sticking with the original plan will be the outcome, which is fine with me... but, thought I'd put it out there.

Thanks,
Carl
