You guys are getting me interested. Does it matter what voltage the power supply is? What about minimum amps? One link is for 12v and the other is for 24v. Some serious amps on both.

I have a couple of power supplies in the parts bin but max of 4.5 amps. The printer power supply I have is less than 1 amp.

Is this one the same or similar. It says it is the  luxurious upgrade so I am hoping it comes with a whirlpool and candles.

BJJ,

The cheap $15 red board is favored over that one.

BJJ,

Yo PG, BJ here:>)
Maybe I should change my BJJ to ChP.

The cheap $15 red board is favored over that one.

I guess that would be this one.

Also, I saw the cheap pre you posted. How about this one.

If you want this integrated amplifier board with a preamplifier, do you just set the volume pot to the middle?

I max it and use the preamp volume control to make adjustments.

I've built a system using the TPA3116D2 ( the YJ "Blue Board" ) with a laptop power supply, a PS One for CD duties and a simple pot volume control on the amp, and some Madisound Recession Buster speaker kits in a tapered TL that I've been listening to in my shop for several weeks now while I build another amp with a better case than the $2 WalMart food container I used to house the first one...

I picked up a back up camera display off of Amazon to use as a display for the PS One, that and a wall wart out of the junk box to power it, and the original controller with the cord tidied up with bread ties...  Makes an excellent CD player for very little $  I think I bought the PS One at a flea market for $10 and the display was around $16....

I'm a bit over the C note level with the speaker kit included though.....

I just ordered the 6N3 and 3116. Off to goodwill to see if they have a brick and PS1.

OK I went to the Goodwill and no dice on the PS! or a brick. My son lives in Denver and loves to craigslist so I think I will have him pick one up.
I was checking out power supplies and the link provided but then I came up with this I like the idea because of the variable volt selector. I am thinking if I guy gets a different a board down the road he has a good shot at being able to use this power supply on different builds. Hopefully I am on the right track but I am so hopeless (or so my wife says) that I am not sure.

This is the power supply I use, it's a bit more, but had better feedback, and goes down to 12V  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006FD71P8/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Keep looking for the PS One, they are out there.  E-Bay will cost you as the sellers know the SCPH 1001 is still rated as a "C" class unit by Stereophile.....

I just put together a second TPA3116 ( blue/black board ) which is getting pricy at $20.  :green:

Here's a popular choice 12V 5 Amp power supply.

OK I just pulled the pin on the MightyM recommendation for a power supply but at 16 bucks this has really set my budget back. LOL I am going to be eating beens for a month.

I noticed that they sell a little more expensive 3 tube 6N3 that has a headphone jack. I might have to get it and make another system for my garage. It would be nice to have a headphone jack off of the tubes while at my computer but I don't know anything about the Lehmann circuit so maybe it is not as good as the one poultry recommended. Here is the ebay  <a href+"http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tube-6N3-6Z4-basic-on-lehmann-circuit-Headphone-Amplifier-board-Assembled-/370890280898?pt=US_Amplifier_Parts_Components&hash=item565ac88fc2">LINK[/url]

Top of the line TPA3116 power amp priced at a recession busting $20 :thumb:

That's less than 3 cents per watt.

hey guys, new to AC. came here because of all the info on these amps  8)

ordered the black pcb / blue components board, and the seller also had one of these guys

only thing is, it claims it needs 130VAC and 8VAC and it does not include a transformer. will a normal transformer used for the rest of these tube preamps work, or do I need to source a different one?
