I agree with the comments posted here, that the BDP-2 manual (and other Bryston manuals) would benefit greatly not just from revision but from a complete rethinking. Since Bryston has been very good to us on this forum and others, what would you think of creating a user wiki for the BDP-2 and letting Bryston use it, if they're interested, as the basis for a manual (or an alternative manual posted online)?
One of the major problems with manuals such as this one is that they're often written by techies or company experts who are intimately familiar with the product and, with this background, may have difficulties projecting the needs and tech background of the average user. Thus, some functions might not be explained fully, understandably, or in some cases at all.
As I peruse the BDP threads, it's clear that, while many users are expert in computer and network technologies, many are not and purchased the BDP to avoid technological hurdles. It is far more likely that the techies participate in this and other forums, so there may be a significant base of BDP users whose needs are not addressed by the manual.
Your thoughts?
Cheerio,
Rich
