Is there any difference between sound quality of BDP-1 and BDP-2 ?

If I have my entire music collection on 1 Intel 240gb SSD, will there be sound difference between the BDP-1 using powered Thermotake BlacX hdd docking station connected to usb input on back of the BDP-1 , compared to putting my Intel SSD into BDP-2 ?

I am using Naim ND5 XS network player to stream internet radio and do not need extra networking features of the BDP-2. Connection between either BDP 1 or 2 is BNC to BNC digital input on Naim ND5 XS.

Hi Dan,

Both units contain the same sound hardware and run the same hardware; so they should sound identical.  With that said a number of customers who own/owned a BDP-1 and then Upgraded to the BDP-2 have mentioned the BDP-2 sounding better.  Personally I can't hear the difference. 

The external drive enclosure shouldn't effect the audio playback; however if you are worried about the BDP-2 has space and hookups for an internal 2.5" drive and would power said drive with its linear supply.

Thanks Chris, I agree with you that if it is the same sound hardware, they should sound identical but will think about advantage of internal drive as you say its powered by linear supply.
