I've owned this for over a year and use it primarily to remove dust, etc. before cleaning it in my Audio Desk cleaner. It works great.

I doubt it gets in the groove, rather cleans the flat surface above the groove. In my books, it's worthless.

Actually, it is sticky and its flexible surface allows it to remove dust and dirt in the grooves. Not as good as a VPI, Loricraft, Nitty Gritty or Audio Desk, but better than a carbon fiber brush. At least that has been my experience.

Perhaps if it's a big bowling ball in the gutter, it may grab it, but it's pretty much a surface (looks pretty) cleaner. Your other thoughts on using the RCM is spot on.

Hi Folks,

I made a fairly detailed post about my long term attempts to come to grips with this product on another thread.  Executive summary:  I think it is a very worthwhile tool *IF* one accepts some caveats:
1)  It does not do everything claimed
2)  Machine cleaning as primary should still be an essential part of your record care processes
3)  It benefits from some particular handling and cleaning procedures.

Once both expectations and usage are managed carefully, I've never found my records sounding cleaner or my stylus remaining more un-clogged.
The more extended discussion is on this page:

Hope this helps.  Cheers,  John
P.S.  Also seem to recall that there may have been, maybe still is some similar Japanese product???

I use it only as a surface dust picker upper.  Dry air in the winter and resulting static makes carbon fiber brushes ineffective in picking up dust, nor are they very anti static.  I pick up dust with the roller, zap it with a static gun and it's all good.  Oh, and I clean my records with a vacuum cleaner followed by an ultrasound cleaner.

BTW,  I use the same gooey stuff on my stylus.  Folks at Soundsmith have alerted me not to use the liquid stylus cleaner too often.  Tip can fall off!  I started using Zerodust stylus cleaner almost exclusively after dipping into ME first.

I agree it's a good surface dirt remover. I also use the Zerodust stylus cleaner with an occasional use of LAST stylus cleaner.

From time to time I have found that a used record, especially one that has fingerprints or other visible dust/dirt benefits from a pre cleaning on my Loricraft before using the Audio Desk ultrasonic cleaner.
