Lyrical Story Game
« on: 3 Jan 2014, 05:45 pm »
Lets start a new forum game. Post a line or two, or three from any song you want to add to a continuing ever evolving story. The idea is to create a story on this thread that continually changes and moves from one poster to the next, but still keeps continuity, of a sort, using song lyrics. I'll start ...

I was standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona ...

I was standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona ...
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup...

I was standing on a corner in Winslow Arizona ...
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup...

Meanwhile, lurking by a stone in the mud
Two eyes looked to see what I was and
Then something spoke and this is what it said to me:

It was me on that road
Still you couldn't see me
And then flash lights and explosions

Road's end getting nearer
We cover distance, but not together

Somewhere I've never travelled
That's where I've been today
Somewhere beyond all reason
But it became the only way

Come on along or go alone..

(going to stop repeating previous lyrics in order to save space, this could get long)

One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me

Home...home again
I like to be here when I can.
When I come home cold and tired,
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire...

A wild pack of family dogs came runnin' through the yard
And as my own dog ran away with them, I didn't say much of anything at all

Ooh, she's a little runaway.
Daddy's girl learned fast
All those things he couldn't say.
Ooh, she's a little runaway.

Tell her there's a spot out near Abram's Bridge
And tell her there's a darkness on the edge of town...

Well, if you ever go back into Wooley Swamp, well, you better not go at night.
There's things out there in the middle of them woods that make a strong man die from fright.
Things that crawl and things that fly and things that creep around on the ground.
And they say the ghost of Lucius Clay gets up and he walks around.

Gonna walk around and drink

Have you ever sought fortune evasive and shy?
Drink to the men who protect you and I !
Drink, drink, drain your glass !
Raise your glass high!

ORLOFSKY
I sing to the king fermented, tra la la,
Bubbly ornamented, tra la la.
There’s simply no describing
The pleasures of imbibing.
The curse of human dryness
Is banished by his highness:
Champagne the first,
The king by acclimation,
The monarch of libation
In bubbly coronation!
ALL
A toast, a toast, a toast!

ORLOFSKY
Then up with a magnum, let it pass,
Rim to rim, glass to glass,
Hail to his spirit, cheer it on,
And drink till the night is gone!

EISENSTEIN
A monk in a monastery, tra la la,
Sings to the golden berry, tra la la.
It makes the life monastic
No longer feel so drastic.
He finds it more consoling
Than even holy rolling.
Champagne the first, &c.

ADELE
In love the effect is awesome, tra la la,
Up like a budding blossom, tra la la.
It makes the heart grow fonder,
Makes blondes look even blonder,
It turns the cold and stony
To thoughts of matrimony!
Champagne the first, &c.

And there ain't nothin' short of dyin'
Thats half as lonesome as the sound
Of a sleepin' city sidewalk
And Sunday mornin' comin' down
