My brother and I were born in the 70s and grew up in the 80s. We both became HUGE film fans, and several years ago we realized that there were so many classic films that we'd never seen. So we began methodically choosing which ones we'd watch and found that this was in many ways some of the most satisfying entertainment we'd ever experienced.
One day it was between a Cary Grant film and Lawrence of Arabia. We both were leaning toward the Grant film, but Lawrence of Arabia had a stronger reputation as a classic. What happened over the next three hours was just mindblowing. To this day, if I'm ever asked which ONE film would I choose to represent the adjective "epic", this is my choice. And I don't see that ever changing. What an absolutely beautiful film in all aspects. It was then that I started to understand the greatness of Peter O'Toole.
RIP, sir.
