Gary Dodd and his wife Elise have sent out some public messages on Facebook. So it sounds like they don't mind letting everyone know what's going on. So I will pass on the events of this last week in a nut shell.
Gary had a seizure and what is called a V-tech episode with his heart. He then got an ambulance ride to the local hospital in Plano. Gary had to be sedated to be stabilized. A day and a half or so later he woke up not really knowing how he got there.
Gary was also having issues with his blood pressure dropping real low at night. This was likely leading to his heart stopping. And lucky for him, it was restarting on its own. The first night in the hospital his heart actually stopped for 27 beats. For Gary that is about 25 seconds.
They gave him two stints and they were setting him up for a defibrillator to be hooked up to him to jump start him when his heart stopped. Now they are actually thinking that they need to go in and replace the Aorta. This will also get him a new heart value. The rest of his heart is okay, but the aorta area is extremely enlarged. They told him it was the largest enlargement they have seen that hasn't ruptured.
So while things are pretty sever, Gary might just get a whole new lease on life if all goes well. He has been suffering with these issues for a long time. So please keep him in your prayers.
I'll update you guys as more is learned.
