Just built these for a friend. He really likes his ESS speakers!

Pretty, and nice components.  Move that middle coil so that the magnetic fields don't interact and you've got a winner.

As above, spread the inductors as far apart as is practical and each inductor's axis should point a different direction.
1] east-west
2] north-south
3] up-down

Nice.
How did you wire them up? Looks like it's all wired underneath with feet lifting the board off the floor?

Thanks for the advise S Clark, don't know how I overlooked that...    Luckily it's just a small adjustment.

sebrof, yup... the boards are Amish cutting boards from ebay, the wiring is under the boards and the boards sit on rubber feet. Fairly simple, but it did take a bit of labor.

Update:

Fired up the ESS AMT 3s last night. I added braces in the cabinets, the drivers are all Eminence and the Heil tweets have new diaphragms. The cabinets were wired with Neotech UPOCC copper litz wire.

I was surprised how good these speakers turned out. Slightly shocked actually. The Heils are awesome tweeters, I can see why people like these speakers and they still sell for so much money, even in mediocre shape. My friend has a few grand into the speakers and I think he's doing pretty well. They sound great and and can play loud with good dynamics.

Beautiful work, very classy.
I've never seen felt isolating components. That for vibration I suppose?

Thanks Bob, yes the felt is for mechanical isolation.  :thumb:

And TBH, these ESS sound as good as just about anything I've heard up to the ~$10k range...  :o
