How about changing the "Y" axis to 5dB scaling?
Here's a curve I just shot on-axis with a 5db scale and the microphone placed a little lower and closer in to the speaker.
Can you define "a little lower and closer" compared to the previous? What are the exact measurements and placement and the delta between?
Looks great, that Satori woofer cone is really growing on me. I didn't like it at first but I know its a great woofer.Comparison time !?!
Been spending quite a bit of time listening to different recordings. I've used most of the high-end drivers in this size range (6.5"-7") and for the $ this woofer is exceptional. Being a little smaller in cone area and with less excursion than the Scan-Speak Illuminator the Scan still reigns supreme in the lower frequencies. Not to say the Satori's bass is wimpy - it still has good definition and extension. The midrange is where it really performs and is very neutral with good detail. The higher sensitivity is a bonus as well for those that have amps with less power that can drive a 4-ohm load. Also takes a smaller cabinet than the Scan if that's something that appeals to you.In comparison to other drivers I would say it's a great alternative to the Audio Technology and Accuton woofers of similar size and a much better value. Based on the bass differences I still prefer the Illuminator in the Tempesta design; however, it could be an option for someone looking to save a little money and have a more compact cabinet (plus extra sensitivity). It's the perfect driver for those that prefer paper-based cones but don't want to sacrifice detail. If you lean towards stiffer cones (metal, ceramic, etc.) like I do this driver might change your mind.
Hi Rick,Did your opinion regarding Audio Technology drivers change? If I remember correctly you placed a few midrange/midbass drivers ahead of them regarding only performance.
How much you will rate this against the Pricest accuton i know C173-C90http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/approx-6-midrange/accuton-c173-6-090-6.5-ceramic-cone-midrange/V
I've used that driver and it's a midrange - not really a good comparison.
Hi,Jeff B. from another forum seemed to get a 1200Hz notch(moderately deep) from the Satori, your results shows a much shallower notch at around the same freq. He is however very happy with his design and the performance, sound wise of course from this driver. What is the overall sensitivity you are getting from this design?
No change in opinion on the AT drivers - good drivers but the Illuminator and Satori offer better performance for less cost.
What's the mid and tweeter
