Audiomods (New) Tonearm for my Nottingham TT
« on: 4 Oct 2013, 01:01 am »
I recently paired this Audiomods Tonearm, that I bought from a fellow ACer, to my little Nottingham Turntable in my second system. I've been listening, on and off, for a couple of weeks now. Wow, I'm delightfully impressed! This combo is a whole lotta fun. Fast, punchy, sparkly and smooth. Lot's of extension in both directions. I understand that there are a few Audiomods owners on AC. I'm having a great experience with this little kit.  :thumb:

Yup, also a happy owner of a Classic arm. Use it as a second arm on my Well-Tempered Simplex.

Can't believe I have the Audiomods in my closet and haven't tried it yet.

What do you think of the Audiomods vs. Origin Live (top level or close to)?

Previously on this table, I had a Rega RB-300 with the Incognito Rewire Package (Cardas from Clip to Plug) and the Origin Live Mod. It sounded just fine, I thought, BUT this is a whole 'nother world... a mo' better world! Sorry, it's the only comparison I have on this table.

Din, that looks beautiful.  Put me down for a visit in November and we'll spin some vinyl on both rigs.

PS: Wow, killer systems...both of em.  But would love to hear the big rig.  Dunlavy followed Duntech Sovereign 2001 philosophy, one of my all time audio high points.  Dunlavy is sorely missed, no one's filled his shoes since he left the scene.

Gotcha down...

Until then repeat this phase ad infinitum, "Whoops, 'scuse me... the groove got me..." It'll get you ready, and we can be "attuned."  :thumb:

Thanks, but I've changed some things around since I posted my systems. Guess I'd better update the page. In the big room at the Farm House, I've replaced the Dunlavy Towers with the big Snell AIIs and moved the Dunlavy speakers into my "In Town" second system. I've made a few changes to my analogue systems in both places, etc. Both John Dunlavy and Peter Snell were audio geniuses, although with slightly different philosophies and sound signatures, I feel that their speakers are incomparable.

I have the NA Spacedeck, and am using the Origin Live RB250 with Incognito re-wire.

Does this tonearm need a different collet from the Rega based tone arm?

The arm was a drop-in replacement for the Rega badged arm, and I used the same collet that is already supplied on the Nottingham table. Audiomods will also supply the fastening bolt as well as spacers. However, the bolt is not needed with the table's collar. Hope this helps.

Your welcome Roscoe.  Just a little kidding to offset charming, funny, incredibly handsome et al.
We know you have a killer set-up, but I doubt if anyone knows you're also James Bond with a sense of humor.

Your secret's out.
