I like the Sundog from Vapor Audio for your application or Selah Audio's Magnifico.  Neither center channel uses the exact same drivers but they could build you something if you wanted them to.  :thumb:

You should mention that you use a Acoustic Elegance woofer as well.

Ooh i forgot...i use AE IB15 for lows.....both looks good...though a little costly for me....i want to stay below 1000$ ...hecke evn 750$ would be good...though selah and vaapor both looks good..

why thing we like are almost out of price range...

I am no expert in the area of HT. But I agree that the center speaker should match the timbre of the Lt and Rt sides. Many have had success with all speakers identical, since for instance when listening to the effect of an airplane flying from your right to left, it should sound the same coming out of each of the three speakers. This makes sense of HT effects.

I would also want all octaves reproduced on the front three.... but maybe a sub could handle those bottom ones.

How about the RAAL 70-10D in an MTM configuration with the Scan-Speak 18W/4531G?

I am not sure what your new place will look like so are you thinking OB or sealed/vented?  You could also purchase a prefabricated cabinet and cut some holes.  Maybe in your new location there would be some folks who could help with a crossover for the MTM.

The best center channels are NOT MTM due to the sound waves from the two M's interfering with each other.  MTM vertically isn't my ideal either for the same reason, but as most of us sit at roughly the same height, its less of an issue.  However the effect is much more pronounced in horizontal applications.

Correct.

Toole clearly shows this and proves it in his book...Sound Reproductions. What you need is a dedicated midrange driver to minimize lobing, etc...

The Intimus 5C posted in the above link is an example of one with a dedicated midrange driver.

Best,
Anand.

If you want a WTMW center channel what do you think about using three Scan-Speak split-paper drivers?  Use a 15W and two 18W.  To keep expenses down you can certainly find these drivers used somewhere.  I do know that there are many variances of them with different coatings and impedances.

Thanks

I have those, had Jim make it a custom size to fit the narrow space I had to work with.

I don't have personal experience with the Revelators to be able to make a worthy suggestion.  I do prefer the appearance of the uncoated versions which don't have shiny cones.

The Salk Sound suggestion is sweet!  I get the downside of the MTM versus the WTMW but the MTM looks more sleek and is significantly smaller.  Plus, I think it would be easier for you to build/complete a MTM version.  Jim Salk may even be able to create his SupercCharged Song Center for you with Revelators if you desired that.

Have you considered trying a cheap center channel alternative to see, in your setup, if the driver compliment matters all that much?
