@Guy13. Thank you very much. Yes, I was striving to produce a relatively simple, enjoyable audio playback system. I think I am there. I am extremely happy with the way they came out. You can always find things to improve, but I think for the time being I am happy with the point that I am at. I may address my amplification and possibly add a subwoofer as @Poultry has recommended to add some impact to the 20-40Hz region, to supplement the bass from the H-frames.

But that will happy after the MarkAudio drivers have been broke in and I can fully asses the system's presentation.
Hi danvprod and all Audio Circle members.
May I ask what the meaning of: danvprod ?
Why add a subwoofer? Why not duplicate the woofer on each side?
I have a pair of Eminence 12" Acoustinator connected in parallel driven by one 300 watts plate amplifier on each channel and I have plenty of low frequency bass.
It's pretty simple arrangement.
Just want to share with you and all Audio Circle members something I am happy with.

Guy 13,

The Alphas are said to go down to 40Hz in the H-frames and that pretty much covers the type of music I listen to. The lowest commonly played note on a double bass is "E" which is 41Hz.

With the frames I hear the bass but a small sub allows me to feel it as well.

Hi Poultrygeist and all Audio Circle members.
Feel the bass, hummmmm...
When my listening room is finish remodeling,
I will set up my N3 with the two F12G Rytmik sealed subwoofer
I have and see if I can feel the bass.
Thanks for the idea.

I have a few CDs that go very low...

@Guy13 -- "danvprod" comes from dan (my first name) - v (last initial of my last name) and prod (for productions). Something I set up a while ago and it just stuck for user names and such.

I think those Rythmiks will let you 'feel the bass' for sure ;) I just like @Poultry's idea because of the small size, I could hide it easily behind one of the main speakers.

Does anyone have experience with these Class D amps: http://classdaudio.com/audio-amplifiers/sds-250c-class-d-audio-power-amplifier.html They look pretty nice.

@Poultry -- for your Yung plate amps, did you pick up one of the models with a bass boost, or just a flat response?

I didn't go with the bass boost plate amp as there's no way to shut it off.

You can buy the  SDS-250 kit and save some money. They aren't difficult to put together and it looks like a fun project. There's a huge thread here on the Class D Audio amps.

An update on the project:

Mark Audio Drivers have been breaking in nicely. Have about 200 or so hours in with them, so I was ready to take a measurement.

Here is the in-room response 1/6 octave smoothed. Sounds pretty good. I'd like the take these out to measure outdoors, I'd still like to deal with the dipole peak and rolloff, as well as any other anomalies.

Here is the response in-room. Since, I often listen at pretty low volumes, I don't mind the extra bass response. It sounds pretty balanced to my ears.

There is a guy who hangs out at Hawthorne Audio who goes  by "Randy in 'Caintuck" who built an open baffle using the Betsy and crossing to an AMT driver. His site is
http://www.randallrash.com/New_Loudspeakers_part7.html and can find a thread on them here http://www.hawthorneaudio.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4799  I'm sure he'd be glad to share some details.

I know Randy. If he likes those OB's that's saying something as he owns some incredible gear.

Thank you, Harold. I've admired "Randy in Caintuck's" setup before. He has some great gear and shares quite a bit about what he is doing.

I've always liked his amplifier racks.
