We were able to talk the one remaining Logitech developer into adding a small enhancement to Logitech Media Server, version 7.8 (beta). See if you might find this helpful:

I keep three Squeezeboxes sync'd around my house. To keep from having to run around the house and constantly adjust player volumes, I've come to rely on ReplayGain to keep volume levels roughly the same. A big problem with this is that I also like listening to MOG, which doesn't offer ReplayGain. Most of my local music library has negative RG values, sometimes as much as 10 or 12 dB. If I switch from playing content out of my local library to MOG, it's insanely loud.

What we asked for is the ability to apply a constant ReplayGain value to remote streams (it will work with any music service or radio stream) so that the volume difference between remote streaming and local music playback with ReplayGain won't be so severe. It's not perfect, but it's much better than before.

To use this, you'll need to install the LMS 7.8 beta from the link below. You'll find the setting under Settings > Player > Audio > Default adjustment for remote streams (it's a player option, so it can be a different level for each player) . I've set all of mine to -7 dB, which works well for me.

Other than that change and some minor bug fixes, there isn't much difference between 7.8 and 7.7.2. There's not much development of the server being done these days.

I see that Logitech just posted an update for the media server. to 7.7.3
has anyone tried it ? I have seen Adobe do updates that kill old products, so I'm a bit leery....

I took the plunge and applied the update.  Everything still works fine (Classic SB system).  OTOH I don't perceive any differences, plus or minus (other than the continuing trend to add images, etc) so why bother to do this "upgrade" is probably the better rule to follow.  In fact I came back here after a long absence to find any feedback on this.

So I installed the update to my Duet, but now have issues.

The Controller has a hard time finding the Receiver.  And when it does, the Receiver cannot connect to my network.

Any advice?

I recall the fun of dealing with wireless setup and maintenance when it came to my SB3.

I went wired.

I have not updated my LMS since installing 7.7.2.  It does all I need with my classic SB3, and VAMP (hacked Pogoplug).

Sorry I cannot help Bob, but assume that a full reboot of LMS, then Duet, then controller is in order?  Pull the batteries out of the controller and boot it last?

So I gave up trying to get my Duet to see the wireless network.

I uninstalled and reinstalled LMC.  Rescanned the library.

Then I connected the Duet Receiver via Ethernet directly to my router.... tried to connect but unfortunately I get "Couldn't connect your squeezebox to Ethernet".

What the heck!?!

the Remote CAN control my Touch which is acting just fine...so I don't think its a router problem.

Please help.

Thanks, Bob

I just kept trying...and eventually it worked.  Although the light is blue and not white.

Strange.  And frustrating.
