We were able to talk the one remaining Logitech developer into adding a small enhancement to Logitech Media Server, version 7.8 (beta). See if you might find this helpful:
I keep three Squeezeboxes sync'd around my house. To keep from having to run around the house and constantly adjust player volumes, I've come to rely on ReplayGain to keep volume levels roughly the same. A big problem with this is that I also like listening to MOG, which doesn't offer ReplayGain. Most of my local music library has negative RG values, sometimes as much as 10 or 12 dB. If I switch from playing content out of my local library to MOG, it's insanely loud.
What we asked for is the ability to apply a constant ReplayGain value to remote streams (it will work with any music service or radio stream) so that the volume difference between remote streaming and local music playback with ReplayGain won't be so severe. It's not perfect, but it's much better than before.
To use this, you'll need to install the LMS 7.8 beta from the link below. You'll find the setting under Settings > Player > Audio > Default adjustment for remote streams (it's a player option, so it can be a different level for each player) . I've set all of mine to -7 dB, which works well for me.
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/index.php?ver=7.8Other than that change and some minor bug fixes, there isn't much difference between 7.8 and 7.7.2. There's not much development of the server being done these days.
