I am trying to follow this conversation, but I can't make sense of it because it isn't related to the original topic of the thread at all.

The OP asked about various DIY speaker alternatives and several were given.  But now, the conversation has shifted into how to integrate some unnamed sub into some unnamed mains via some vaguely-stated means apparently related to some emails sent between the two participants.

I did recognize the source of the bogus information about inverting one sub of a multi-sub configuration, but the thread isn't about multiple subwoofers.

So maybe the unrelated stuff could be split off into a thread about how to integrate a sub (which shall not be named) with some mains (which shall also not be named) using a procedure that shall not be spelled out.  Is that fair?

AJ designed my speakers. The idea of DIY subs came up when I noticed some passive sub kits on the Geddes site. I wondered aloud whether I might get help from AJ in using the plate amps to power them (my mains have built-in active subs with slave outputs, heretofore unused). The rest is me trying to figure out what exactly might be involved, and I think I'm being told... erm, just plug in some subs.

BUT, you are perfectly correct, this is a discussion best suited for another venue, perhaps a private one.

So, those Waveguide kits really seem cool. I think that's my favorite idea yet... Actually it's kinda funny, my girl came in and saw the DIY Sound Group site up, and she started checking out the kits with me. That's promising.

Thanks for your response, it makes a lot more sense now.  I haven't met AJ in person, but I did talk to him at length on the phone a few years ago, back in the Audio Asylum Propeller Head days.  :green:  It was fun.

I was impressed by the waveguide speaker kits too.  In fact, I've considered trying some out to compare them with my current JBL LSR6332 mains.  I like the idea of a two-way with matched directivity between the woof and waveguide at the crossover frequency.

Cool, I get to quote myself :D

The recommended subs would not (be) chosen from a hat. They would be specific and have a specific acoustic response.

Unless something has changed, you already have all the outboard DSP required for LP response.

Looks quite nice (if you like small refrigerator sized standmount speakers) but I like this one http://www.diysoundgroup.com/waveguide-speaker-kits/fusion-series-kits/fusion12-kit.html better.
You either entirely missed my post, or misread it, since what I actually said is, you would do anything but "just plug in some subs", as you wrote.
Please note, regarding the "main" thread topic, I also recommended a very specific kit. Just in case you missed it.
And of course, you do have my e-mail. At any time, please feel free to correspond.
CapFest is just around the corner too, so you can see/hear, firsthand, if I know how to get good bass in rooms.

Hi Andy, hope all is well. Just returned form TX myself (LSAF).

cheers,

AJ

AJ, thank you for the Fusion 12 recommendation - that is a good fit potentially, and I've reached out to that guy to see about specifics.

Roger that on the sub thing, I'll be in touch if/when I'm ready to pursue.

Never meant to cast doubt on the veracity of what you were saying, just had trouble following as it was light on specifics.
