Rim and everyone, thank you so much for the compliments. For RMAF I am contemplating doing a pre-show party or something.
While I am still loving the system and the quietness of the room is beyond belief, I'm starting to realize just how quiet the room is. And, believe it or not, sometimes that is not a good thing.
While all my equipment was more than satisfactory in my old room at my old house it was blatantly obvious that the same equipment in my new room presented a rather annoying problem. The QSC amps fan is very quiet, so quiet that it was never ever an issue in my old system. In my new room the QSC fan sound is blatantly obvious.
Having planned ahead for just this occasion and any potential video equipment I may add in the future I have a closet in the front of the room that can be accessed outside of the room. I moved the QSC into the closet and ran my cabling through a conduit I put in the front wall. The QSC is plugged into its very own dedicated 20 amp circuit. Noisy amp fan problem: solved!!!
With the woofer amp out of the room suddenly I realized that my DIY amps PTs emit a slight hum. No problem I can solve that! WRONG YOU IDIOT!!! I was unable to fix the problem and I managed to accidentally loose a wire in my amp which caused my fuse to blow and kill a test rectifier I was using. It took me about 3 hours to diagnose and fix. Then as if that wasn't frustrating enough when I finally fixed the issue and turned the amps on the humming noise was literally 5X louder AND now I was getting hum through the panels on the midrange. It was so frustrating that not only did I mess up my amps and have to fix it, but my mod made things way worse. I sometimes forget just how tenuous this stuff can be. the smallest change or imperfection can lead to utter disaster. So after having wasted almost an entire day doing then undoing a mod I then spent the following morning searching for the source of the hum issue. After all of that I am glad to say I'm right back where I started. Which is to say a barely audible hum from the listening position and no audible hum from the speakers at all. Net zero improvement.
Next because I no longer needed 3 tiers on the stand I took one more tier off and this puts the height to little over 2 feet tall. I also moved the stand slightly closer to the back wall. Opened up the soundstage even more.
This brightened my mood quite a bit after the amp fiasco. I'm really enjoying this one. The overall emotion pouring from this setup is astounding and this brought it up a few more notches. So much control, transients, detail, smoothness and grace. Awesome stuff!
Now I just have to keep telling myself, quit chasing the dragon, all equipment makes noise! If I somehow eliminated the hum from my transformer I would then hear the slightest hum from my speakers and if I got rid of that then the power supply to the SB would annoy me, then the power condtioner etc etc etc. its really an increasingly impossible task to truly eliminate equipment bourn noise... Hell even the SB itself emits an audible hum if you listen close enough. I am learning the hard way to leave well enough alone!

Ryah is a current audiophile! She wants to go in the room more than I do. Of course she only likes 2 songs and wants me to play them over and over again.
I love it. I'm really surprised at how much both my daughters AND wife are loving the room. We've gone down to the room every night before bedtime and the girls love just listening and relaxing. Great way to wind down.
Just rigged up a really effective vent cover for my room. check out the thread here:

Pez, I bet it sounds as great as it looks. Mine is a few weeks away from starting construction. I hope it turns out as good as yours! What is the window treatment you did? I' have no good ideas about mine except for stuffing them full of something or other. Congrats!

Beeutiful Jason. Beeutiful.
Looking forward to the pre-party, or just a listening and being there thing. Besides, the only time we will see you at the show will be a blur,
when you and Tyson are busy with the expose'.

Hi PEZ and all Audio Circle members.
Nice audio stuff (Especially the subs) and great room.
Your little girl look Asian.
Are you from Asian origin?
Just curious, don't want to invade your privacy.

Hey guys,
Yes I am part Japanese and Ryah looks almost completely Japanese despite being only a quarter.
No subs guys. Probably looking at the GIK scopus traps which are actually designed to sop up excess bass energy in order to control standing waves/overhang. The RM40s are running full range, which with 4 10" carbon fiber woofers, they do with authority. Brian was a brilliant designer.

Pez,
I can't believe I'm writing this: your image makes me miss my RM40! What vintage are yours? Looks like Brian made some little wood skirts to fill in the space where previous models employed tweeter(s) of greater height than the single FST? Is this correct?
Congrats! Would love to hear your system! Looks pahsathively mahvulous!
In homage to Garth: "Dude, are you worthy of that room and system?"

James,
Before those were Jason's, they were mine. They originally did have the dual spiral ribbon tweeters, and we retrofitted it to accept the smaller FST tweeter that is in there now (shout out to Wayne and Mike!). Same with the passive radiator - we "vitrified" it once that was encouraged by Brian, and also swapped out the regular carbon fiber woofer for the mega (double magnet) carbon fiber woofer once that became available.

Link to amp build please! (now or sooner, I need three tube channels x about 35W)
Tx!
That is one premium manly man cave!
Earlier 40s had non-symmetrical woofers up/down. If still the case, swap top/bottom on one channel but not the other. Should be noticeable upgrade. Non-symmetry is better than L/R symmetry <100 Hz.
40s run full range or if no, what is hp pole and slope? If crossed 80 Hz or above ignore above advice.
Thinking more about it, I seem to recall that when Brian had non-symmetrical woofers, and the one on top had higher Fs, it definitely improved performance when I moved them both down to the bottom. IIRC the OEM positions moved the image upward in the narrow range dominated by that 10". Have you guys noticed that phenomena?
