I'm actually trying out dBpoweramp now having used only EAC before.I'm ripping to wav files and don't need album art etc., just the basic info. EAC gives you the choice of having album art, but in dBpoweramp album art is selected by default and I can't see how to disengage it. A minor irritant. dBpoweramp selects from a range of metadata providers whilst EAC only uses the free one, but I've found no problem with that. Both can be configured to use AccurateRip.As far as speed and accuracy are concerned there doesn't seem to be any difference. After ripping, the log from dBpoweramp is more detailed, but also therefore more complicated. The layout whilst ripping is clearer with dBpoweramp as it uses the original page whilst EAC uses a smaller window. Generally, dBpoweramp works just that bit more pleasantly but for my purposes EAC is good enough.
Long time ago I used WMPA simple one is the Sync option in WMPMake a playlist and sync to a deviceIt will convert to MP3 on the fly.
If you want to have one of the best, have a look at dbPoweramp. It has an excellent format converter. http://www.dbpoweramp.com/If it must be freeware, try SOX http://sox.sourceforge.net/
Looks like a bug in WMPAs far as I know dbPoweramp verifies the rip and does the internet database lookup only at rip time. You might have a look at an elegant lightweight media player like MusicBee or if it is about tagging: MP3Tag
UPDATE...I'm finally reading to start ripping my CD collection again, this time to FLAC lossless. Based on feedback here I decided to try dbpoweramp and downloaded it today. It seems easy enough to use. So far I've made it through 1 shelf of CDs (10 more shelves to go!) and haven't had any issues. I added the directory where my new rips are going to LMS, which scanned it without issues. Spent some time this evening listening to some of the tracks and it sounds great! Thanks for the feedback. I'll post again as this project progresses.
Ugh....still working on reripping my CD collection. Remind me again why I'm doing this....lol.
Because once it's done, you'll completely forget how "hard" it was to do.
