Thanks!

Oh cool! Like this...  :D

(open bracket)url=http://www.amazon.com/Sbtrkt/etc]  Sbtrkt or Samples or ? [/url(close bracket)

That really isn't obvious. Seems like it should be easier, or instructions provided, at least.

Ok, here's my attempt... This is my favorite audio shop

Works like a charm.  :thumb: Nice shoppe too, and just down the road a couple hundred miles. Next time I'm headed south I'll have to check & see what they have.

Most of my 'new' music is old music. Folks I remember from days gone by, but haven't heard a particular album for years, rock. folk, and jazz. The new new music I pick up comes primarily from the 'What music are you currently listening to" & What jazz album are you currently listening to' here at AC. Those combined with the local NPR Jazz & Blues shows keeps my budget pretty well tapped. I guess my latest 'find' would be euphoria, which had I been paying closer attention to the noted threads early on I'd have caught thanks to mjosef & gordy who posted them back in '07. As it is I heard them on the Sat night All Blues show on NPR. Lots of options for finding & sampling new or old music out there these days, and thanks to threads like this we can all find something to suit our tastes.

I check out the stuff people post in "The Music Circle"
This place has great new electronic stuff...   http://www.ektoplazm.com/style/full-on

MOG is how I listen to everything I see online or read about here at AC. Money well spent each month to stream anything they have, keep offline copies on my tablet and phone....

I'm a Jamie Cullum fan, but I just discovered this BBC performance with a full orchestra today. Check out this smokin' version of "Just One of those Things"...

Neekomax, and Y'all,  I thought I would recommend a few of my favorites from 2012
Alt J ,  (An Awesome Wave) An insane new sound and STELLAR album!! See my post for links to 3 great Youtube songs
Grizzly Bear( Sheilds) Very very solid album- Just saw them live. Highly recommend album and live
Ben Howard ( Every Kingdom) !!!!!! :thumb:  This album is just a masterpiece, think in the vein of David Grey (try White Ladder from 2000) Also on Spotify 6 songs were added and an EP called The Burgh Island , also flawless.
Kendrick Lamar , (Good Kid Mad City) warning , this is Rap.  This album is sooo addictive and powerful.
Damien Jurado, (Maraqopa)  mellow music, a perfect album, came to him in a dream. Saw him live too.
The Shins (Port OF Morrow) Very fine album
Norah Jones (Little Broken Hearts) Not your typical Norah. Outstanding!! Produced by Danger Mouse see (Broken Bells) One of my favorite albums of the Decade
Glen Hansard (Rhythm and Repose) Just a fantastic folk record!! Very emotional, an album on the level of a great Van Morrison album
Cave Singers (New Witch) This band is Alt Country , one of my favorite genres. Album is amazing, more alt than country. See their first two albums as well, skip their new one. If you dig Alt Country please see all of the Wood Brothers albums. The bass player Wood comes from Madeski , Martin and Wood a great Alt Jazz, funk,Jam Band . See them Live !!!!
The Great Lake Swimmers ( New Wild Everywhere) Fantastic album, think mellow like America.
The Avett Brothers (The Carpenter) Very strong album. One of the Best Live bands around. The fans know every word to every songs. Tons of energy!!!
Tame Impala (Lonerism) Wow!! Got to take a listen to this album.
Spititulalized (Huh?, Sweet Heart Sweet Light) Super album, can sound like great Wilco at times, but different.
Frank Ocean (Orange) Not really my style of music , but this guy is a genius!!
The Civil Wars (Barton Hollow) Alt Country, Won Grammy, They are a duo.
Here We Go Magic(A Different Ship) :thumb: produced by Nigel Godrich , Radiohead's producer. What a sound!! See my post for Youtube cuts . I enjoy all of their albums but this one is the best by far, sound and production wise.
Hope you check these out and enjoy!!

Todd, thanks for the list. Some of those I know, some I listen to already, but there's a few new to me on there. To the Spotifys!

Got the morning to myself in front of the system. These are the moments I love :)....

Waaay back in the day, before I was ever interested in audio, ALL I cared about was the music.  I've come full circle, I'm content with my rig, and the music remains, as always, my favorite source of entertainment.  In the old days I devoured music magazines, especially the Jazz ones.  Jazziz, Downbeat, and Jazztimes amongst others were always a great source for finding about new artists and new recordings from old ones.  Cut to today, the print industry's on the ropes, and I haven't bought an audio OR music magazine in well over a decade.  Of course my computer is my primary source for info AND purchases, it's a brand new day.  Recently, while looking for new music I recalled my earlier methods and decided to check out Downbeat.com.  WOW, what a wealth of riches!  Their review section is as eclectic as ever, and I started going thru the archives, month by month, taking notes, and now I have a backlog of records I want to pick up.

I wound up buying the last 2 recordings by the a band I'd never heard of; 'Snarky Puppy' - 'Ground Up' & 'Tell Your Friends'.  They've been in constant rotation for the past week since I picked 'em up, incredible band!

So I'd suggest going to the websites from the magazines that cover the type of music yr interested in.  It's a great source!

Chk 'em out!

Strange how you find out about music sometimes ...

The most recent run started because of The Walking Dead, ending song on the episode I think 3 from the end of this season was "Warm Shadow" from Fink.  I bought that album, "Perfect Darkness" and really enjoyed it ... and dark and brooding tone, well recorded and excecuted.  Then grabbed "Sort of Revolution" from Fink as well, liked it even more.

So today I'm in the mood for some original Electronica, and found Amon Tobin.  As I'm listening I'm enjoying, and realize that Fink and Amon Tobin are both from the same label - Ninja Tune.  So I look up more Ninja Tune artists, and lo-and-behold find many more solid albums from Bonobo, Jaga Jazzist, Coldcut, and Funki Porcini.

So right now I'm just riding the Ninja Tune train for as long as it'll take me, and all because of Walking Dead  :D

Ninja Tune is great. Bonobo is great. "Dial M for monkey" is a great chill out album.
Kid Koala is really good also.

I ran across these guys last month and I'm predicting big things in their future.  The band is Hephystus and I think they've got the right sound at the right time ~ heavy and clean.

I attend a performance of Doug and Telisha recently. If you like Americana, they are great.

Ghost of the Knoxville Girl has a lots of compression, which is disappointing. I'm hoping Things That Used to Shine will be more dynamic.

I'd like to share one in the 'happily surprised' category:

I really wan't expecting that much when I bought this CD from an ACer. I knew his hits and knew he'd played with the Dead for a hot second back in the '90s. But this album, whoa, it's pretty fun to listen to. When I think about, the genre is kind of hard to pigeonhole; it's just of his music, passionately and tastefully played, and the songs are good, really catchy, really varied in feel. It's FULL of nasty grooves, and the production values are, to my ears, right on the money. I haven't taken a moment to look into the producers and lineup, but these guy sound like they were monsters playing on this.

What I like about the recording are the final levels- good dynamic range, definitely somewhat compressed, but the master isn't so quiet that you have to crank it to insane levels to have a good visceral listen at high volumes. Excellent mix overall, somewhat kick-ass bass, and nice instrumentation choices. In my room it sounds lush at volume, neither shouty no uneven. Begs to be cranked.  :thumb:

I've become a fan.

The Soundrop app in Spotify is pretty cool. Tons of different user-created and -populated rooms. I have been hanging out in a Jazz room, and it's usually a fantastic source for music- a crowd sourced, collaborative radio station with democratic curation of sorts; anyone can add songs to the playlist, and songs are 'voted' higher in the queue, so that improves the odds that good songs get played. Here's a screenshot:

Paste magazine use to publish a print magazine and include a Cd with each issue (various artists)....which was good. 8)

Now it's all done online.....

I loved the print edition of Paste with the CD. Discovered Stars, She and Him, M Ward, The Decemberists, Plants and Animals, Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, Grace Potter and others. I was disappointed when they stopped the print edition. I don't read on line publications or stories unless I print them first so I haven't read Paste since it went on line. I now read Uncut (print version of course).

Daryl's House and other shows on Palladia plus my local record store owner and friends here on AC are other sources of new music for me. If its not available on vinyl, I'm not likely to acquire it unless it is really, really good.

I've never seen that. Does it have to be the paid version?

Bob, I'm not sure but I believe it's available on the free version. Just go to the 'apps' section (above your playlists) and search it. Should come up.
