I was expecting to see last.fm scrobbling but is not there yet  :(
I see there is option to choose between different versions of MPD, so let's test if it makes audible differences  :thumb:

S1.65 2013-01-30
*Fixed bug preventing MPD from starting (can't play music/connect to BDP from mpd clients)

S1.65 2013-01-27
*MPD:
*Outputs via both Juli@ card and USB (tested with BDA-2)

S1.65 2013-01-27
*Settings:
*Added a new section entitled "MPD"
*Allows users to configure there BDP to:
   *Change the version of MPD
   *Initiate update at startup
*Enable MPD Watch (detects lock ups)
*set a maximum number of songs
 *Removed Browser Variables section

S1.64 2013-01-15

 *0.15.12

Scrobbling will come shortly i felt it prudent to fix a number issues with the firmware first, issues effecting the BDP's stability and tag data of wav files.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Would this be possible with the BDp1/BDA1 too? Ive got 2 spare usb port available..... And for the time being wouldn't mind the limitations of the BDA1 usb port.

Thanks,
Marius

Hi Marius,

I have yet to try BDA-1 due to the USB limitation, with that said you can't break anything if you try.

Cheers,
Chris

Great,

How would i be able to? Any settings to set in the firmware? Would have to configure a usb port on the bdp1 to go 'out' and not use the sound card.

Cheers,
Marius

You're doing it all wrong. I suggest doing it enterprise style - something like Java application server for the front end, commercial DB for the track database and throw in some middleware too. In 2-3 years you'll have it nearly working with just a half-rack of servers.
And BTW check that your team is using a good coding guide http://thc.org/root/phun/unmaintain.html you don't want your competition to be able to reverse engineer.

Hi Chris,

please explain what youre saying? You mean from a usb-port on the bdp1 to the usb-in on the bda1? don't we have to configure those usb ports on the bdp1 as an 'out' ? Thought they were inputs.... What am I not getting here?

any idea what this means, in mpd log, it's filled with it:

Feb 02 15:01 : client: [6] output buffer size (8390656) is larger than the max (8388608)
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1401:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card
Feb 02 15:24 : output: Failed to open "USB Audio Class 2" [alsa]: Failed to open ALSA device "plughw:1,0": No such file or directory

Sorry,
Marius

Just plug in a USB cable

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Marius,

Everything has been configured to work with a BDA-2, the BDA-1 may require a different configuration.  I'll plug in a bDA-1 via USB tomorrow and see what's going on.  USB port are bidirectional.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,

On Mpod I just noticed this:

Apparently the Mpod software sees the BPp1 as a USB class2 source. Hadn't noticed that before, but is that downward compatible with the usb class 1 of the BDA1?  Hope you can make it work... (although this does not give me much hope:  "output: Failed to open "USB Audio Class 2" [alsa]: Failed to open ALSA device "plughw:1,0": No such file or directory")
Why is the Julie card not available anymore?

Thanks,Marius

Cache! Database! SPDIF! USB! Refresh!

What a wonderful advancement digital is!

Puts to shame any archaic Play-Stop-FF-RW thing... I wonder how we ever managed to live with that primitive interface.... neanderthals were us.....

Hi Marius,

Sorry I ran out of time working on a few other things, but I am determined to Check this out.  What you see in mPod are just static labels we have created, you could pull out the sound card (not that I am recemending any one do this) and it would still list the Bryston digital spdif.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Marius

I do not want to list the Juli card anymore as we make modifications to it currently and are moving more and more to other options.
