Unfortunately I have some bad news for you, I built a caps server with an Intel DN2800MT mobo totally unaware that the 'on board' GMA 3600 graphics chip has no compatible drivers for Windows 8. In fact it says that this motherboard
IS compatible with Windows 8. When I discovered this I tried to use the Windows 7 drivers but they are totally unstable and despite getting full screen resolution, the Metro interface crashes and the desktop flickers. To date no one has been able to make the Windows 7 drivers work. This has turned out to be a scandal for Intel because a lot of Intel boards use the GMA 3600 graphics chip and a that means a lot of people have found Windows 8 will not work properly. Intel gave an official response on their forum which caused some outcry saying they have no plans to release a W8 driver for the GMA 3600. Naturally this has caused much anger and upset, after all they are still selling the DN2800MT as well as pc's and tablets using the GMA 3600 leaving anyone who bought one totally in the sh*t.
Personally I have decided that I can live with a smaller 4.3 resolution because I will only see it when I load music and do some updates. For me the biggest PITA is that if I forget to turn my screen on (a flatscreen TV) when I boot up the Graphics won't wake so all I get is a blank screen. So if you have this problem remember to switch your screen on first so the graphics chip can see there is a monitor is attached. To get around this I'm using a keyboard shutdown command, it's easy to set up and you can safely shut down the PC without a screen. You can also set up a re-start command as well.
There are a lot of threads about this problem on the Intel support forums, here's a link (below) to the main one. Sorry to bring you bad tidings but I'm in the same boat, I'm angry at Intel for not being upfront about this issue, if I'd known I would have bought a different motherboard, then again there are not many low powered silent and passively cooled options around.
I read somewhere that the Intel engineers have totally abandoned support for this board in favor of it's replacement.....thanks a lot Intel
http://communities.intel.com/thread/29583?start=0&tstart=0P.S one way around this is to investigate a compatible graphics card for your PCI slot. Of course that would mean you won't be able to use a S.O.T.M soundcard but if you don't use one then no problem.
