:o gulp. I don't know why it's such a big deal I've spent waaaay more on individual audio components. But still shaky. It's a nice one, got a great deal.

Thanks! Samsung PN51E450A1F. Can't wait to take down my 25 inch LCD I've been running for four years and fire up this beast.  :thumb:

RClark, I have the 43" version of this plasma and love it. Great TV.
Did you take advantage of the Walmart $478 deal?

Yup, they're normally $699. It's one of those without a lot of frills, it's all screen quality, 600hz, etc, you know you have one, and it definitely stood out there for image quality. Plus it's pretty highly reviewed.

This knocks my Dual Core 2.0 back some as well as my big diffuser but this was too good a deal and I was tired of squinting at the little 27 incher. Plus I always wanted a plasma.

Source is just my PS3 and my Stereo  :thumb:

Opening the huge ass box right now.

I picked up a 50 incher this summer and finally tool the HD plunge.  The pricing makes these things hard to resist.  And the picture is stunning on my plasma.

Enjoy!

IT IS GLORIOUS!!   :thumb: :thumb:

Watching Rush R30 Blue Ray, and the combo of big plasma and my system is wow. It's like IMAX in here.

And games move so fluidly now. And the colors and blacks.. so glad.. I almost went with another LCD..

Anyone have links to some free calibration?

They recommend turning the contrast down and staying away from black sidebars for the first 100 or so hours to prevent burn in.

There are settings on the first 4 pages of the thread linked below.  I'm confident that the settings suggested on page 4 would make you even happier  :D

No that's a different model. Sorry I wrote that in excited haste. Thanks for links there! Checking them now. The model I have is the one I posted and I paid $540 at Fred Meyer. Nice slim bezel, good looking set.

Watched The Avengers last night (to see a visually intense film) and compared to the LCD I had (it was a nice screen when it came out, I paid $400 for it. I wanted a small screen but something high quality as a computer monitor), compared to the LCD it is natural colors and smooth smooth smooth. You see all the details and doesn't get choppy. Creamy plasma goodness.

Also the screen size in my small room is just massive. I'm about 8-9 feet away. The 25 (yes, 25 not 27) inch screen I would place over my nearfield sub, and still squint. This is against the back wall and easy on the eyes with all that image size. Plan to wall mount and tilt down so I can put that diffuser below it. I'll get an acoustic blanket to cover it for music listening.

And Blu Rays look phenomenal. Very pleased. Ok, time to click those links and calibrate it. Then see how Master and Commander looks  :green:

I got a 58" Panasonic 58S2 plasma 2 years ago on black friday special for $1100 w/ 3 years 0% interest.... 10-12 years ago I paid $1700 for a 43" Hitachi HD rear projection set, plasmas were $5k+ back then. The 58S2 I have isn't the top of the line model (no 3D), but I'm not as picky about video as I am about audio.

Thank you! Just went through with the settings from the guy near the bottom and everything just looks even better than before.

Yeah, about prices, I've been watching them just drop and drop on these things. It was time.

Awesome!  I didn't realize the link was to a different model.  If you love the screen now wait until it's dark out  :thumb:

It does look good, certainly a great starting point. I have no issues with the settings, it's what I like, natural skin colors, not too much color saturation, looks like a movie screen.. everything seems right. About to test the Ps3 settings but I imagine he got those right too.

Is there some sort of calibration system you recommend that I could use to fine tune even further on my own?

And yeah, can't wait to run this in the dark tonight. I'm watching something with a friend later.
