Any alternatives to Mye "Maggie" stands from a builder on the East Coast ?

I've always been interested in a "structurally substantial" retro-fit set of stands for my Maggie 2.7QR speakers, but for some reason having a set shipped long distance does't appeal to me . So, like my header asks, anyone know of any closer to my location alternatives ?

Thanks, Steve

  • The poodle bites, the poodle chews it.
There's Sound Anchors in Florida - go down for a winter vacation and come back with some stands sounds good to me!

They aren't like Mye stands but Magnestand is right there in Pennsylvania...

I like the Magnestand approach, and if I find some used Maggies (thinking about 2.7's), I will build Magnestand type frames to avoid the cost and hazard of shipping.  You are close enough to Magnestand to take your Maggies there and then pick them up.  Sweet.

What about some DIY?
Here is my project and my stands for my 20.1. the improvement is more then just subtile .

I live clear across the country in Washington State. They shipped here just fine.

Peter Gunn lives outside of Allentown, PA.  So what's the confusion?

Mr. Gunn's work is just a bit more than making stands, right Rclark?  :thumb:

Thanks to everyone for all the "food for thought"

I don't usually like to post negative stuff, but I find the customer service from Sound Anchors to be atrocious. I have taken interest in one or two of their products over the years, but they have left a very poor impression on me. Grant Vandermye is a class act and, although pricey, his work is top quality.

In retrospect, it turns out that the Mye stands appear to be a bit more economical( & a bit less labor intensive )than what I had thought them to be.

Thanks,Steve

Mye stands were my option 2, they seem pretty nice. Let us know how it turns out and please post pics of your setup.

Mye stands can be easily done at home with a bit of DIY knowledge  and also for less money.
I think that the 2 point attachment of Mye still can be improved especially on bigger panels(3.x, 20.x).

True. I bought all the materials the day before I saw a pair Mye stands on Audiogon.
The audio gods must have been looking out for me knowing i have two left thumbs.

Here is what I was looking at thanks to "Green Lantern" over at the Asylum

In terms of the price of $630 shipped to the northeast US, dont foregt that includes shipping from Canada in wooden crates and whatever broker fees.

Stands ARE essential
