I've got a good one for you, I got dozens of veneers to play with a while ago, my favorite was New Zealand Kauri:http://www.ancientwood.com/ancient-kauri-sale/plywood-veneersIt has loads of chatoyancy, that 3d holographic look and has lots of different colors in it.
Awesome examples! Thank you all for responding. How does one know what direction they could take the veneer when finishing it? By experience?
In my limited experience you can stain any veneer with any color and give it any finish.Something beautiful though, it's best just to give it a clear coat IMO, gloss or satin. I like poly, the minwax wipe on.Do you want to paint the veneer white or did I misunderstand?
I think English Sycamore might get me where I want to go.
My thinking was to paint the baffle white and veneer the sides. Currently, I think English Sycamore might get me where I want to go.
Tyler Acoustics uses veneer from these folks. http://www.oakwoodveneer.com/samples.html
