There was an 8" upward firing acoustic suspension woofer (which tended to acquire a coating of dust with time), and on the front, the convex 3-1/2" "fried egg" midrange and a 1" convex tweeter. These were not conventional domes. They were a proprietary design that allowed the driver to flex in a controlled way. Allisons were always noted for their forward dispersion as a result.

Somebody's got serious woodworking skills; did you do the cabinets too?   :o

Those cabinets were built by my buddy Ed Rosenquist up in Detroit.  He also built the Aurora cabinets using the same construction methods.  They feature 1" thick walls consisting of masonite and epoxy layers that were bent and cured over a form.  He then cut and shaped the side walls with a curve for the front baffle that matches the sides.  The gentle curve allows a time alignment for all the drivers which allowed me to craft a true LR2 crossover for both crossover points.  There's also a 15" passive radiator on the back tuning the enclosure to 17Hz.  In room, Byzantium covers the entire audible spectrum, +-1.5dB from below 30Hz to above 15KHz.

They do quite a disappearing act for speakers that large.  Excellent cabinet construction!

Infinity FET Preamp

One of the most beautiful pieces I owned.

I think this is one of the most beautiful pieces of audio ever made.

I'd love to hear one of these again.

After looking at some of the offerings on this thread, the old adage  "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", certainly rings true !!!!

Hi PRELUDE and all Audio Circle members.

This is what I call " PURE SIMPLE DESIGN "

I love it.

Look like SS - not tube, am I right ?

Guy 13

yes, guy, this is a s/s tuna.  i own the citation 15; it looks almost identical:

both sound fantastic - in the same league as my beloved modded refurb'd citation 18.  the 14 pictured, and the 18 have 5 gang tuning pot, the 15 has 4 gangs.  all have wery good reception.  all are extremely similar "under the hood"...

it was her money, it's her call!  but, she's been seeing this guy for a couple years, and she's known him for about 3/4 of her 21 years, so it might be "the one"...  and, i don't think my daughter is an "indian giver", as the expression went, when i was a kid..   8)

I had a Phase Linear 700B driving My VOTT A7's, talk about overkill to the max.  Chalk this one up to so strange or unbelievable that it has to be true:

I was living in Hermosa Beach in the 1970's and had just bought a pair of Altec Voice of the Theater A7's and had the Phase Linear already and a Phase Linear 2000 pre (I believe Bob Carver designed both of them) and hooked them up and smoked a little herb....I kept on turning them up can couldn't believe how loud they were getting and the big VU meters on the 700B's weren't budging that much.   About 15 minutes later as I was turning over the LP I heard I loud knock on the door and it was Hermosa Beach's finest....they told me that they got a complaint about a band playing too loud.  I laughed and told the cops that it was not a live band but was my stereo. They didn't believe me and I had to physically show them, they were blown away and told me that the complaint came from a couple of blocks away and that I needed to be more courteous and to be careful about smoking weed and they left.

My Kyocera TT.

Kyocera as in Kyocera the office-equipment manufacturer? That would be so cool..." By day we build mundane business appliances but in the evening after a few saki's...well check this out !" :D
