Not surprised the transformers tested good. They had little play. The amp was stored for most of its life.
Alarm bells went off when you said you were going to use the Cary schematic. I don't know the extent you will follow Cary's schematic, but those transformers are from a Cary Sweet 807. I disassembled it because I could not, in good conscience, sell it as an amp. They are known to eat tubes and, I have heard, are prone to thermal runaway. My experience with them amp confirms that they eat tubes. Rather quickly, too. In my case, not more than 50 hours of play before things started to go wrong. I used top quality tubes, too. Good NOS stuff and some new manufacture, too. Nothing helped the amp's proclivity to burn out tubes. Audio can be an expensive hobby, but....
