Hi all,I'm about finally ready to try to get my computer connected to my hi-fi.I have read a couple reviews in Stereophile and Absolute Sound involving the Halide and the Dragonfly DAC's.I know the Dragonfly is less exspensive, but I would really like to hear your oppinions on which one any one of you would opt for....thanks a lot....Mark Korda

FWIW, I tried an older dragonfly and at the time my current DAC (Audio Alchemy XDP) was better. Now I have a Schiit Audio Bifrost and it was much better than the AA XDP. It is $450 with asynch. USB up to 24/192.

How important is size and portability to you? A nice advantage of both, but you might be able to get better sound from a larger DAC...

Take a look at these....

Ones an USB Dac. the ODAC.

The other is an amp + ODAC.

Both really good....low cost and transparent.
