I am not a fan but tuned in just to see if I might become one.  I couldn't stand watching the lead singer contort ( I think he would call it dancing)...

Radiohead isn't for everyone,,, then again neither is Coldplay.  Lead singer Thom Yorke is an odd sort with esteem issues and he freely admits it. His 2011 individual music video, Lotus Flower was a huge hit, not only for the music but Yorke's dancing interpretation of the music which is his forte. The video was nominated for Best Short Form Music Video at the 2012 Grammys so someone thought his dancing interpretation was quite unique.

As for Austin City Limits, it's a Saturday Night religion for me,,, has been for years. ACL has graduated from mostly country music to now providing a wide variety of music gendres of today's biggest names. It should be (IMHO) a can't miss show for anyone posting in the Music Circle that has a home theater system, be it multichannel or 2-channel. Granted if I were listening to TV speakers, I would be a non-viewer. That has never been the case for me.  :thumb:

Love that show!  They get some serious groups, too.  Best I've heard some of them play is on that show.

Austin City Limits is the real deal and now that I (finally) have a DVR I should never miss it again....

Checked out the video.  Maybe it is his face I don't like :green:.  Something about him doesn't do it for me.  Same for the music...

What an intense show with breathtaking 5.1 Dolby Digital audio from Bon Iver. I'm glad I recorded it so I can watch it again. Did anyone else partake in a slice of alternative folk pie?  :o  This weeks ACL broadcast is a perfect example of just how gendre diverse Austin City Limits has gotten and how expandingly diverse their audience has equally become since their early day of the grass roots country only crowd. It just does't get any better for those of us who thrive on "music" gendre diversity.

In the words of lead singer & founder Justin Vemon:
Quote
In America, we really don't have a model, it is the only perfect wonderful music show that we have in my opinion,,,,, there's nothing like it,,,,,

I agree!  :thumb:

For years now, I've been watching Bonnie Raitt on ACL, she's become the yearly staple of the PBS show.

How depressing, the Shins went from being one of the best bands in the world to being almost unlistenable.

Funny, I thought The Shins sounded great. But Dr. Dog, not so much.

well, musically the new group he's put together is tight, but they have no pulse whatsoever. and they even managed to make the old songs sound like something off port of morrow. i had never heard of "dr. dog", but i now that i have i don't feel like i was missing much.

Anyone recommend a recording of her?  I really enjoyed her on ACL but the samples I listened to on Amazon all sounded either dated or overproduced.

See this show!!!! This is my 1st exposure to The Civil War and I am blown away!!! Incredible vocal blending that's blowing away the audience. I can hear why they are Grammy winners.  :thumb:
