Let's hear it for us geezers! Those were great days - we experienced the first high fidelity revolution.I still have my H.H. Scott LK-48B integrated tube amp that I bought and assembled at ~age 17. I've bought 4 more 222C's off eBay, as well as 2 Scott tuners. I have re-coned and re-capped my Large Advents that I bought after getting out of the Army in '72. No old turntable, however - I bought a Wilson-Benesche Circle table off eBay and will fire it up some day.I wish you well when you return to Canada and begin to live in the past, with its great memories!
You might want to check out 'Audio Classics' & their used McIntosh equipment. I purchased my preamp/tuner & amplifier for $1900. Both where gone thru by a tech there, and sound new. The nice thing is both pieces are vintage with beautiful warm looks. They fit in quite well with the rest of my system which was purchased new.
Hey, quit driving up the price of Sherwoods - I might need to buy a 6th one just in case. How did that Sherwood MPX decoder work for you?
Back in my high school days in the 70's, I had not heard one female talked about HIFI.
Elizabeth, is this your real name? I thought back in 63, HIFI was primarily a "male" hobby, so did you accquire the system, or your husband did?
Hi.My wife walks away whenEVER I put on my HiFi since day one. She hates loud soud. One's meat can be another one's poison. I can only say - too bad! That's another reason why I've installed my audio down in my house basement with closed door when I moved in this house some 20 years back. Home sweet home upstair & Music sweet music downstair. No fight!c-J
