I assume you realize that the smaller you go, the more power/EQ you will need for a given output level. But sitting on your desk, you probably don't a lot of output... maybe a pair of the TB 8" in a Linkwitz W frame would work. I'd worry about an H-frame making too much vibration on the desk. But, you'll be the pioneer here!
You really don't need measurements to confirm what you already know. That's just a novelty project.....and a pretty neat one.But the frequency wavelengths and cancellation distances don't support any (real) bass capability. For a desktop environment, area must be a primary concern, no? I don't understand why someone would consider an open-baffle project for this usage since it would take up much real estate.Cheers,Dave.
Look closely. It's mounted to the 'modesty panel' of the desk I think.
My desktop area is like him....and what you think about this project...just asking...http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/146639-office-desk-open-baffle-subwoofer.htmlV
This will fit my needs perfectly - my desk is angled with two 45º sides (90º included angle), so the set up is perfect for the two 18" Goldwood GW-1858s that I bought intending to mount into H frames as subs. They will then be basically right under my nearfield monitors, but the desktop will prevent line of sight to the cone. An easy enough experiment.
