Music Direct just announced a pre-order for the 16LP "meticulously remastered" box set. Anyone pulling the trigger?

My couple of questions is 1) who did the pressing and 2) are these titles available as individuals as well?
I certainly don't want to hear 'I wanna hold your hand" ever again, but would be interested in Abbey Road, Let it Be, Sgt. Pepper, Yellow Sub, Revolver and the White LP. The rest I'm not interested in at all, and at $400 bucks, yikes.

I have crappy copies of about half the albums (and no copies of the other half), so it's attractive for me if the mastering meets the marketing.

Yes, they are available individually, at close to the same per LP cost for the total box set MSRP.

I imagine a Mono set is coming, since they have the high res digital for those albums as well. Here's hoping the mono LPs come out individually as well.

Of course, a Blue Box can also be found for less than the cost of this new set with a little patience...

Thanks! I guess I missed these. So I guess I'll be spending about $150 for the ones I want. Unless you guys think this will become a collector's item??????

Is 'remastering' always a good thing? And doesn't it matter who does this, and what they are going for in terms of imaging , etc, etc ?

Without going too far out on a limb, I am going to say these are vinyl versions of the recently remastered CD set. I sincerely doubt that these will be analog, but the observation that "my copies are worn out" or "I'm missing this one or that one" are valid for me. Knowing me, I'll probably buy the box but will troll the stevehoffman.tv website for the best price. Surprisingly, one vendor or another will frequently have a much better price, sometimes it's even worthwhile ordering overseas.

All on Japanese vinyl plus diff UK and other European pressings.
I'm with orientalexpress I'm looking for the UK albums in mono and would jump on a set

Yes Paul,

This quote below from Music Direct suggests that it is the case that these are vinyl pressings of the digital master used for the recent digital release:

"At the start of the restoration process, engineers conducted extensive tests before copying the analog master tapes into the digital realm using 24-bit/192 kHz resolution and a Prism A-D converter. Dust build-ups were removed from tape machine heads after the completion of each title. Artifacts such as electrical clicks, microphone vocal pops, excessive sibilance, and poor edits were improved upon as long as it was determined that doing so didn’t at all damage the integrity of the songs. Similarly, de-noising technology was applied in only a few necessary spots and on a sum total of less than five of the entire 525 minutes of Beatles music. Compression was also used sparingly and only on the stereo versions to preserve the sanctity of the dynamics."

On the plus side, the digital releases were not released at 24/192, so you may have better sound quality in a decent enough analog set-up than you get from the CDs (if the pressings are quality of course, and I do wonder where the pressings are being done...).

Whether these pressings from 24/192 digital are better than earlier all analog pressings (MFSL or the Blue Box for example) is the big question for me.

I have the MoFi Collection in the black box and the British blue box of Parlophone and Apple pressings (both stereo) plus original U.S. pressings in mono (not clean copies since they had to survive college and law school). I can't imagine these being better, but only a listen will tell one for sure. I am likely to pass and hope that they do a vinyl remastering of the Mono mixes. If they use the CD mono box set it should be pretty good.

Hey!

I was excited when I first see this but than learned that they are cut from 24/192 file. Well, with that I think I will pass.

Just another way of milking the Beatles catalog. I bet it won't be long til you see it release on 24/192k download or maybe jump drive. Well, you get the idea.

Anyway, if these LP cut from master tape and all done in analog (AAA) than I might be willing to pay that price for. I don't think that will happen anytime soon or ever for the Beatles collection.

The prices on eBay seem to all be in excess of $400, used.
