For the fear of too many Polls too soon....

The idea behind this poll is to share the collective gained knowledge of the Audio Circle, which I might note has some incredible minds and those with hands on experience.  There are no wrong answers and much of it will depend on the individual room and or system.

Many don't have the luxury of unlimited funds and this may serve as a starting point for building that system that will give you great bass!
Please take the time to post the logic or reasoning for your choice.

I promise no more polls from me for a while, but you are more than welcome to start one if so compelled.

Many thanks,
Jim

Why would I want to acquire an O/C disease? Which I probably already have. Don't you mean Audio-Nirvana, which I'm sure I don't. I've had excellent bang for the buck luck with room treatments in my room from hell. I did the move the speakers and listening chair thing til it drove me to distraction. All I  seemed to be doing was trading one set of peaks and nulls for another. After consulting with Bryan Pape and following his instuctions I achieved + or - 5dB in the boundry dependent region. He tells me that's pretty good for a non-purposed built room.

I don't always vote in polls in the Bass Place but when I do I vote for buying
2 subs and putting one in the rear of of the room operating 180 degrees out phase.

I wasn't aware it could be achieved. I was under the impression it was an affliction.

While it is an affliction, it can be cured by the attainment of bass perfection in many instances.

I still blieve it is first and foremost the room, when the acoustics of the room are maximized the components in said room will perform to their best regardless of the number of subs, etc.

So in other words, the question should have been Audionirvana, not Audionervosa....or, as I now noticed, you have edited the question from achieve to cure....

Maybe a dog?

Russell Dawkins

1. remove ceiling and three of the walls.
2. replace ceiling with canvas or the like (must be acoustically transparent to bass and lower mid frequencies). Allow for an outer layer of quilting for insulation and a waterproof layer on top of that. Must be realistic!
3. tilt front wall outwards at the top (if feasible) and re-build the side and rear walls with a similar outward tilt. This will reflect all frequencies toward the now-acoustically-translucent ceiling.
4. install multiple woofers along (or in) the front wall

Voila - end of nervosa.  Outdoor acoustics (which I love) indoors!

You did say "most significant" thing!

*Scotty*

The word that immediately comes to mind is TENT!

Russell:

Rather than do that, I will just bin the thread and let the admin team deal with it.

"What is the most Significant thing you can do to cure Bass Audionervosa?"
Jim what information are you trying to elicit from the responders to a question of this kind? To myself and others this appears to be a 'tongue in cheek' kind of question asking for a cure for a psychiatric condition.
A differently worded question might get at the information you desire.

I saw and did not know which circle this was in.. I do not have subs, and in general have little interest in 'extra' or super bass anyway.
I am not raining on the parade i hope.
I voted none. as i do nothing much in any of the ways listed.
My Magnepan have OK bass, and as I live in an apartment, I do not want a whole lot of bass going intothe walls anyway.
To 'correct' my bass so far i have used Pangea powercords. which help, and fooling around with different ones. that alone is enough to get my bass Ok and natural, to a little less than typical in these bass crazed days..

Scotty, maybe so, I thought I defined the information I was seeking in the first post, most got it and responded in kind.  If there were more characters allowed for the title, who knows what I would have come up with :?

Worth noting, "audio-nervosa" is also slang for those addicted to high-end audio and continually spend in an effort to achieve perfection.
