On a completely separate musical note, the most touching moment of the game was the Sandy Hook Elementary School Choir singing America the Beautiful.  I had to wipe a tear away.  And one of the best National Anthem performances ever by Alicia Keys, so well thought out with her at the piano instead of the usual just standing and singing.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones re-signed Tony Romo for five years today.  Now, how is that possible?  Five years and not free agency?  JJ just cannot admit his mistakes.  What has been said about his ego looks to be right as rain.  Or, maybe he just loves the kid.  Wonder what Cowboy fans think of that.  You trust Jerry Jones?  If so, you must have a lot of blind faith.  I thought the competition was getting more fierce in the division, but perhaps not with Washington's QB injury this past season.  Dallas is good enough to win its division and maybe that's how Jerry sees it.  But, big but, then what?

Come on, Satfrat, numero uno Cowboys fan, tell me I'm all wet and that they can get thru the playoffs to the SB with Romo and his proclivity to throw the ball to the wrong team, senor.  Thanks.

Jerry thought that Dallas had the team to go deep in the playoffs last year, and were simply massacred by injuries.  Draft O-line in the first round, have the youngsters step up at safety, and he thinks they are good to go.  Give Romo time, and he can hit an open receiver. If he's running for his life all season like last year, they go 7-9.
I'll pass Robin's thoughts on if I hear from him.
The 49'ers are the team to beat, and with all the draft choices in a good draft, they are going to be tough for years.

Thanks, Scott.  Robin can speak for himself here, you know, but I appreciate the gesture.  If he wants to, which I doubt..

Which means his posts are moderated first.  I can understand his indignation.  But, his overcoming it is our only hope.

Thank goodness my ex-student Colt McCoy has been traded out of the abyss that is the Cleveland Browns and has landed in San Fran.  He's a smart kid young man, very high character, with great work habits.  He'll make a very solid backup for a running quarterback.  Put him behind that very solid line, and he will win games for the 49'ers- like Alex Smith, but much cheaper against the cap.

Serious congratulations to that young man.  What's gonna happen to Alex Smith, I wonder.

Alex landed with the Chiefs several weeks ago.  This is a good trade for the 49'ers, giving them a smart QB with a year+ of starting experience.  If Kaepernick goes down, Colt is more than a bus driver and knows how to win under pressure.

The Romo deal is going to drive Stafford's price up. Terrific.

Well, like it or not, it's a QB driven league.  Romo got his because JJ remembers the decade before, going from one 2nd rate QB to another- and Dallas had no other real option.  Who does Detroit have behind Stafford?

Wow, Scott, what is it exactly that Jones has to remember with Romo?  What I remember is not so good.  My recollection is of a flake.  A crybaby, even.

Detroit can draft a QB with the 5th pick if they wanted to. It is a QB driven league and I understand it, but Romo got a lot of money for a guy people aren't even sure they want there. There seem to be more capable QBs available every year...I guess that's a good sign.

Yeah, Cujo, I could hardly disagree.  One of these days the Cowboys' owner will surely try for one.  And, it will be before six years.  Bet.

Your asking me to look into the mind of Jerry Jones?  Although I agree that Romo can maddeningly find ways to lose games, he can look very good.... statistically: yards, completion ave, 3rd downs; he's near the top-- if he could find a way to not throw game changing interceptions.  But you only have to look back a few years to see Vinny Testaverde (talk about a guy that could find a way to lose a game that was sown up), Drew Bledsoe (he could throw, but moved like he was in a toe sack), Quincy Carter ( arm and legs with no brain attached), Chad Hutchinson ( should have stuck to baseball), Ryan Leaf, Randall Cunningham..... and finally you get back to Aikman.  Compared to these mugs, Romo looks like the second coming of St. Roger .  I think that Jerry thinks that he doesn't have another 10 years to find his next great QB, and he better make this one work.  Now, if only he could draft an O-line...

A better O line is critical for any QB but especially for the Cowboys given their QB.  Maybe Jumpin Jerry can make it work.

Randall Cunningham was damned good back before he was eligible for Social Security, and with a team that didn't suck! :thumb:

Yes he was, but not many can play QB at 37, his age when he started 3 games for the 'Boys, especially if they take the hits that Randall did.

Boy, did Tim Tebow get a screw job put on him or what.  Screw the Jets, imo.  Will this young feller be playing next year?  Have a clue where?

What's the latest on RGIII?  Who will be the starting QB for San Diego?  What Dallas gonna do next besides what they've been doing other than firing their defensive coach?  Thanks.
