I'm on a smart phone, and Don't feel like typing a long response. Saying that Cutler deserve that hit or that he did anything to warrant that it is completely asinine. He was throwing a pass, it was not a run play. Watch the play again, and ask yourself if you really think that was legitimate hit. If you do you know nothing about football. Secondly, he was hit after he threw the ball, illegally, to the head. The other player was whistled for a penalty, but the damage was done. I think if players were to take matters into their own hands you would see less of this kind of behavior.

I would have cheered if Prppers or Urlacher would have knocked Schaub out if the game in similar fashion. It's too bad the Bears are too clean for that type of play.  Hopefully they will have another chance to return the favor in the playoffs. Even if the hit is after the whistle.

With Chicago's qtrback Cutler sitting this weekend off with a headache, the SF 49ers at home are an easy pick to chase the bears up a tree.

Whatsha think Jack, they gotta chance in San Fran?

The Bears have a defense that should keep them in any game but the backup QB is a question mark.  Campbell has skills to run the offense and the Niners have been erratic this year.  I'm more concerned about the offensive line than the QB.  If they give Campbell time and open holes for Forte, it could be a good game.  Nothing would surprise me but I wouldn't bet this one.

The reason I asked you Jack was to see if you still remember what happened to Chicago last year when Cutler was absent after breaking his thumb? It wasn't pretty w/o Cutler's leadership if I recall and neither were your following posts as the Bears were taken out of contention.

Based on past experience, I'm taking SF in a walkaway win.  :thumb:

This year should be different. They sent Caleb Haney's sorry ass packing and paid big bucks, by Bear tightwad standards, to pick up Jason Campbell as a backup.  He's a solid QB,
Much better than Haney, who sucked.  They also have The other guy who played well last year, Mcown (sp?) was also much better than Haney.

I don't blame you for picking the 69'ers but I'm not sure abou the walk away part. Alex Smith is gimpy and San Fran has looked bad at times.  I'd give SF the edge because of Cutler and the fact that they are playing in San Fran but this is a crazy year.  Anything is possible.

Well, Robin, the Cowgirls could get a step closer to the G'aints this weekend cause NY won't be facing Big Ben.  Pittsburg has a lot of pride, tho, and may pull it off.  How you'd like to be Eli and face that defense under the circumstances.  Nice test for him.

The Giants have the weekend off Jim, they won't be facing anyone.

The Dallas sportswriters seem to think the same for the Cowboys, however, the Browns may not agree.  Dallas has a knack of playing at the level of their competition.

I don't think Wheeden can beat them.  But if he goes down my boy Colt, with better mobility, just might.

Listening to the pundits this morning, I learned that Dallas has 5 of its remaining 6 games at home.  That bodes well for them.  Dunno what New York is looking at.  Romo can get shook up and throw an interception and defenses know that.  Still, Dallas could be the one team standing and the end of the regular season.  That ought to make somebody I know happy.

Yeah, but Dallas plays terrible at home.

Interesting matchups this week with the injured QB's.  The Ravens figured to win over Pittsburgh even with Big Ben in there, so it could be double digits for Baltimore.  Alex Smith is probable for today with Cutler out, would have been a great game with both of them in there.  I expect Fowles to play like a rookie and throw 2 interceptions, but in limited time his QB rating is 6 points higher than Vick and his completion percentage is 10 points higher, so how much worse can it be?

Houston, the number one power ranked team plays Jacksonville, the last place power ranked team.  The point spread is 15, the predictor is 25, unless Houston mails it in or puts in the scrubs fairly early, it could be a bloodbath.  A couple of who cares bowls are tight games, Tampa Bay vs Carolina, and Cinncy vs KC.  Detroit may give Green Bay all they want in the trenches, but GB's superior playmakers should garner them a 6 point win, give the points.

How about the Colts vs. the Pats?  Andrew Luck is impressing the sox off me.  His team, too.  I gotta feeling.  Are the Jets gonna win any remaining games?  Could they be any worse?

I thought the same thing initially, but the spread is 10 points and predictors have it at 14.  It's the NFL and any given Sunday, but it would be a significant upset.

Yes, you are correct, the Jets are a train wreck.

Mr. Jackman, I've said my piece about last week and that's over now, but since my Iggles are as done as this weeks turkey and it's not looking great for my Stillers, I shall reveille in rooting against da Bears in every game this year.  Thanks you so very much for returning meaning to this season for me, I shall be eternally grateful.  Go 'Niners!  Go Packers!  Whoo Hooo!

No worries Lettitroll, I'm sorry the Bears didn't cheap shot Houston's QB, but if this is enough to make you root against my team, have at it.  You might get your wish on Monday.   When Cutler gets back next week, you will be in for some disappointment...if you expect the Bears to lose.

I'm rooting for the Colts, because I really like Luck.  Also, even though a Packers loss is good for the Bears, I hate the lions and will be rooting for the pack.  Also, I think the Steelers will play well this week and give the Ravens a good game.  Is Leftwitch the Steeler backup?  His release is so slow, rumor is he is starting his windup in pre-game for a second quarter pass he plans to throw.  To Steelers!

Just kidding ya Jackman.  I do have to admit I've never been able to warm up to Cutler, but I don't want to ever see anyone hurt, no matter how unavoidable in the NFL.  Campbell has very limited playing time this year of course, but his completion percentage is the same and QB rating only 9 points lower than Cutler, with no Int's, so perhaps the Bears will give a better showing than expected in SF.

Yes, Big Brian (ha!) is the backup for the Steelers.  I've never thought much of him, a backup that doesn't cause problems on the sidelines or locker room is about the best you can say.  Hasn't won a game in something like 4 years, I'm not hanging any hopes on him.

The Eagles are getting slammed as I write this.  Predicted as much.  I'm gonna go out and check the oil in the car.   :(

Campbell is a big step down from Cutler but is a decent backup. He's less mobile than Jay and is going up against a good defense.  Interesting OT games today.  Houston was fortunate to win that one.  Also, this was the first time I've watched Cleveland play and was shocked by how bad they are.  They are worse than the Cowboys!  That's not easy to do.

Cheers
