Self installs would be fine. However, the process is a little complicated so most people will want me to do the installation.
To install the adapter on a 3/4" or thinner armboard requires that a 1-3/4" hole be drilled in the armboard. If the armboard is thicker than 3/4" then a 2" counterbore is also required on the bottom. In addition a 3/16" hole needs to be drilled into the back end of the armboard to provide access to the upper locking setscrew. We also use epoxy to install the adapter into wood armboards, along with the setscrews to lock it into place.
