Those are the same speakers that were at RMAF 2012.  Nice!

It was a great time at the GTG. The Audioholics folks were fantastic. Jim and Mary Salk are awesome. I was in the Salk room for hours mesmerized by the sound of ALL 3 speakers. Guess who ordered a pair of SS8s? Yes it's me!! My speaker search is over.

A friend sent me this picture of the Florida GTG.

Bob

Looking at the picture of that FloridaBear sent me above, I notice that Jim used a Wavelength Audio Tube Dac.  I bet that was responsible for a lot of the good sounds heard at the show.

It looks like Jim was using our Fet Valve hybrid amp and preamp and our new ABX box to switch between three sets of speakers, level matched.  I am glad you guys liked the sound.

The sound was great and I have say, I spent most of the day in the room. The preamp and amp sounded great and fed the speakers without any trouble. The switcher was impressive. It switched the speakers so seemlessly, that if you weren't paying attention you would have missed the change as all the speakers were spectacular, with differences mostly in the low end. There were a lot of comments about how great the switcher did its job. I have been lurking in the Van Alstine forum as well. You make some great products. I will definately consider your products as I make upgrades. I read your thread on how you came to find Salk, and I had the same experience. I ordered the SS8s without reservation. Now the 60 day wait starts. Thanks, Pete

Our new ABX switcher can switch any combination of two preamps, two power amps, three sets of speakers (with or without subwoofers) and match levels for true non-biased comparisons. The setup is fed from a common source, whatever you choose for this.

It can also be put in a test mode for really scary blind comparisons!    :o

After we work through the huge backlog of orders from our recent summer sale, I will make some efforts in promoting this interesting device.  It seems to me that some audio electronics or speaker builders would find it a really useful tool.  We certainly do.

I would love to have the luxury of switching amps to get the right emphasis for  a particular mood or piece of music

do you have a link to this Frank?

and I thought my cable runs looked congested now

I have to say, the ABX Switch is an awesome device.  We volume matched (by ear) three sets of speakers at the Audioholics GTG and were able to instantly switch between them whenever someone wanted to hear a certain speaker.  Depending on what we were playing at the time, it was often difficult to tell that we had switched speakers.  Sure beats having to switch speaker cables around all day long!

Jim,

It's great to be able to talk to you during the show. :)

I hope the drive home was not too bad for you.
Hopefully, one of these days we'll be able to work together.

Stay safe & healthy Jim.
