Euphonium 238 Record Cleaner Isotope
« on: 21 Jul 2012, 11:25 pm »
I can actually see where this stuff might work -

http://tinyurl.com/cqo9agw

It seems it would get into the groves, grab dust and not leave any residue.

But to me it sure looks a lot like the kid's toy, SLIME. I think the guy is just repackaging SLIME and selling it for a huge profit.

So, the question is, has anyone tried to use SLIME as a record cleaner?

Don't recall seeing a topic about what those of us with a record collection use, tho there may have been one.  So, for cheapskates like myself, I use the Spin Clean system and occasionally apply a little Last upon drying with a hypo syringe along the applicator and, lastly, finish off static with a carbon fiber brush.  To the eye and to the ear, seems to work purty good.

I don't know the first thing about the Euphonium but it looks interesting and is affordable if a little scary.  What are you bro's using if you care to say?

Seems like a cleaver name for a jar of slime at $125. Non radioactive isotope, LOL.

Anyone remember the Nagaoka yellow roller cleaner thingy? I used to see it NOS on fleabey for $38.  Looks similar only more controlled.

I don't have any slime, not that kind anyway. Somebody could try it on a beater record. I suggest final inspection with an electron microscope. Check for molecular isotope residue, or green stuff in the grooves.

It does work. It's not just repackaged slime. It's more like Silly Putty, but I had it specially formulated to make it flow right without being too slippery or gooey. It works like the nagaoka, but better. You can use the fast method or you can let it slowly flow across the record for deeper cleaning. I've also reduced the price by leaving out the mat. You can supply your own mat. And by the way its not that cheap to get it made to my specs. Warch for it again on Ebay or send me a message through this forum.

Thanks for providing info to this thread. Also thanks for clarifying that it is no repackaged Slime. The Internets have caused me to be ridiculously skeptical  :)

I am considering trying some of this.

Just buy some Cyber Clean, the keyboard cleaning stuff, exactly the same product for way less.  I haven't used it for records, I have a nice Nitty Gritty machine for that, but it works a treat for cleaning a stylus.  I flatten out a quarter sized dab using the thin computer CD jewel cases then gently drop the needle in the goo, comes out perfectly clean.  We tried sticky hands toys, which is the same chemical makeup, but the sticky hands material isn't as pure and has a little bit of calcium carbonate not fully dissolved that can get on the stylus.  You can prolly get a 55 gallon drum of the stuff for $27.95 (or some ridiculously low price) if you look for it wholesale.  The Zerodust product is the same as well, $69.95 for 1 ounce, jeez.

But the Zerodust comes in a nice little box with a magnifying top. . .

After doing some snooping... Seems Cyber Clean is the closest to the ability of the op discussion product
Gak, no, Thinking putty no. Though  the clear "thinking putty" might be worth a try..
All are Wayyyyy cheaper than the original price of $125 for $15 worth of putty

Very interesting on CyberClean....got to try that (have some here)

In a strange quirk of fate I actually know the owners (tho the product itself is licensed from a Swiss chemist).  They're based around the corner from you in Cherry Hill or nearby town, too.

Anyone looking for the stuff can find at Pep Boys, Fry's and many other places.

Snake oils or smoke mirrors, or what?

Any scientific theories to back up a "non-radioactive" isotope putty can remove all dirts from the record grooves? The best thing is to check under an electronic microscope & it can be returned for full refund if it fails the test.

You can call me "cheap" again, I only believe all natural stuff (it applies to food as well). So no chemicals whatsoever for me. I only believe in pure steam distilled water to clean my vinyls.

Despite costing me only 88 cents per 4-litre bottle from any grocery stores, it works bigtime even on my recycled LPs I picked up from my favourite thrift stores for 75 cents a pop. What conditions could be worse than such old old recyled vinyls?

Any exotic science-blinding chemicals? It might get many affordable innocent LP fans excited. For a veteran
vinyl guy like yours truly, thanks but no thanks.

Well, if it doesn't work you can always make funny noises with it.

May I introduce to those with out kids...Flarp!

I'm still going to get some to try.  Even for that pesky spot that would otherwise emit that disruptive pop.

Just a little off topic, John, but what was the name of the supplier of the equivalent product to Premiere spray to remove the mold release compounds?
