Evidently the input impedance of the line inputs on your computer must be quite low. This is acting as a voltage divider cutting down the gain of the tuner audio output circuits (or maybe worse).
This would seem to be a good case for our optional buffered tape output circuits. These provide a constant 47Kohm load for all sources and isolate the sources from any load connected to the tape outputs. You can never tell for sure how nasty a load some device connected to the tape outputs might be, especially when the load connected to the tape outputs is turned off.
